We recently connected with Yoshika Green and have shared our conversation below.
Yoshika, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
My parents raised a lover of people and words which launched me into the two most fundamental elements in my business. Although both of my parents have left this earth (my mom just passed away), they taught me how to go for the big things, to never give up and to be an entrepreneur at a young age. They were the best cheerleaders. They allowed me to start businesses as a kid and even into my early teens and always supported me and my endeavors. My parents also instilled in me a trust and faith in God, so it’s no coincidence that now my business’s foundation is God and many of my clients either want my help in writing or editing their God-based writing as authors or for their business or non-profit.
Yoshika, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Yoshika Green Consulting is a writing, editing and consulting agency that offers business services of this kind to businesses, entrepreneurs, authors and anyone that wants to make an impact via words. We write, edit, ghost write, create educational content in this space and mentor authors and aspiring authors. I’m most proud of building a solid business that’s grown so tremendously that we’ve had to learn how to scale and have added other writing and editing geniuses to the team. It’s the beginning of the first month of 2023 and we are fully booked for the first quarter of the new year. I want everyone to know that they have a story worth telling and that they have words worth sharing. The currency of words never depreciates.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I funded my business through grants and savings. Being that this is a service business, I didn’t need much to start and I started to make a profit within months. I’m a big believer in using your skillset and gifts to make room for financial and business success.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I’m still learning in this space. It’s an ever evolving situation. I first took a course from Lindsay Teague Moreno who is a genius in business, entrepreneurship and how to grow both on social media. That gave me the foundational tools to create a space of communication to speak to my audience and to grow it. Although it’s grown, the goal for this year is to grow even more influence (not necessarily in a massive number of followers) so that my reach is enlarged when it comes to the right clients/customers. My advice for others that want to do the same is to glean from the ones doing it well, know the trends for the social media platform you want to grow on, and keep focused, keep the business content the main thing if that’s your main thing.
