We were lucky to catch up with Yoon Choi recently and have shared our conversation below.

Yoon , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?

I got my first clients years back when I was still working as a fashion stylist. She asked me to organize her closet and help me set up fittings at her house the way I did for red carpet clients.

Hi i’m Yoon Choi. I got into professional organizing after I wanted to pivot my fashion stylist career. I initially worked for another luxury organizer who specialized in all areas related to organize. I went on my own slowly right before the Covid lockdown and the business has continued to grow and expand since. What sets us apart is I offer a one on one approach different from the corporate organize companies. We specialize in organizing custom closets, pantries, and full homes as well as offering custom building. I partner with a very talented builder, CMJ Cabinets for most of my custom projects. We also offer resale support, personal shopping, and move in support. I am the most proud of our expansion through referrals and growing this business on my own and my team. We have worked with many entertainment industry clients as well as musicians, designers, influencers and creatives.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

I continued to work as a fashion stylist when I was trying to grow my organize business and also worked part time for a friend who owned a staging business. I basically was juggling three very different jobs and eventually was able to just focus on taking organize clients.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Our source for new clients has primarily been through word of mouth and internal referrals from existing clients, interior designers or realtors we currently work or partner with.
