We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yonathan Wezeli a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yonathan, thanks for joining us today. Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
In general, I think that we are still working as a society on inclusion as there are more groups being identified in the last decade and even if we stick with the basics, inclusion of gender has still a long ways to go and that is true not only for the film industry

Yonathan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As an independent contractor, day player like most people in the film industry you have to work hard to stay afloat. I entered the film industry in 2019 when I finally found my way in. I never attended film school, studied commercial photography in Europe and moving to Los Angeles was always my dream together with experiencing what it is like to be part of Hollywood movie making.
In 2020 I established myself as a focus puller which is still true to this day. As a creative person who likes to do more than one thing in my I keep pushing the limits and expanding my capabilities to camera operating and being a Director of Photography (DP) Mastering anything takes time so I might call myself a Camera operator but you will rarely hear me call myself a DP at this time

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I personally feel rewarded just being at work, being busy and creating content for others to enjoy whether it is a commercial, a corporate shoot or a feature film. All of these need a great input of creatives and just being part of the process fulfills me.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I see my whole life being a mission. The mission I am following is to grow and get bigger and better at everything that comes my way. Its easy to get scared to try new stuff, but taking that step in a new direction, take on challenges is what pushes me personally forward. Our life is, and always will be a journey, what fun would it be if we knew where it leads so being positive and working hard is the driver of my journey cause just then I’ll see what the goal was
