Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yohana Sheridan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Yohana, thanks for joining us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
Since starting my business, my goal has always been to serve my community and help people grow. Given the sensitive nature of what I do and the feelings of embarrassment or shame that often surround it, I felt it was essential to connect with other business owners who could support and complement my work.
I wanted them to meet me, get to know who I am, and understand that my business is built on trust, kindness, and integrity. By establishing that foundation, they would feel confident referring their clients to me.
My very first paying client came through a mortgage loan officer I had connected with. She understood and saw the value in having a credit repair specialist as part of her team, recognizing that for some clients, credit repair is the first step in the homebuying process.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my story. My name is Yohana Sheridan, and I am the founder of The Sheridan Co., a company dedicated to helping individuals take control of their financial lives and move toward homeownership success.
Before launching my business, I spent over 20 years in the dental field. During that time, I witnessed so many patients struggle to afford the dental care they needed simply because they couldn’t get approved for financing. Seeing the emotional toll that financial barriers took on people really stuck with me. It opened my eyes to how deeply credit impacts every part of our lives, from our health to our ability to build a stable future.
My passion for credit repair also comes from my own experience. When I was 18, young and inexperienced, I entered the world of credit cards without really understanding how credit worked or what a credit report was. Later, when I was in my early 20s and ready to purchase my first home, I discovered there were errors on my credit report and my score was much lower than I thought. I had to seek out credit recovery services, and thanks to the guidance and education I received, I was able to purchase my first home just one year later. That experience completely changed my perspective and inspired me to help others do the same.
Through The Sheridan Co., I now offer services such as Credit Repair and Restoration, Notary, Apostille, Certified Translation, and Remote Online Notarization. While we provide a wide range of support, credit repair holds a very special place in my heart. My mission is to help clients not only improve their credit but also gain the knowledge and confidence to make lasting financial changes, often starting them on the path toward buying their first home.
What sets my company apart is the personal connection I build with every client. I understand the feelings of frustration, embarrassment, and hopelessness that can come with financial challenges, and I meet each person with compassion, respect, and understanding. Something that truly stands us apart is the one-on-one attention we offer every client. I believe in taking the time to understand each person’s unique situation and creating a personalized strategy that works for them. My business is built on trust, kindness, and integrity, values that guide every decision I make and every service I provide.
One of the things I am most proud of is seeing my clients’ lives transform. Watching someone go from being denied for financing to proudly holding the keys to their first home is what drives me every single day.
What I want people to know about The Sheridan Co. is that we are not just a credit repair company, we are a partner in helping you build your future. Everyone deserves a second chance, and with the right support and education, financial freedom and homeownership are absolutely within reach.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A major lesson I had to unlearn was my relationship with money. Growing up, I was never really taught about finances, how credit worked, how to budget, or how to manage money responsibly. Like many people, I thought that earning more would automatically mean financial security, but I quickly learned that isn’t true. You can make all the money in the world and still find yourself struggling if you don’t know how to manage it.
I had to completely deconstruct my old money habits and rebuild them from the ground up. That meant unlearning the mindset of constant spending and learning how to use money intentionally and respectfully. I began budgeting, prioritizing saving, and focusing on needs versus wants. It wasn’t about depriving myself but about creating balance, learning to enjoy what I have while still being disciplined and mindful about where my money goes.
This process not only changed my personal finances but also deepened my passion for helping others do the same. It taught me that financial success isn’t just about income, it’s about education, awareness, and developing a healthy, respectful relationship with money.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
As a small business owner, pivoting is part of the game. We are constantly evolving, and without growth and adaptation, long-term success isn’t possible. One example that stands out was about a year after I opened my company. I realized that being a notary alone wasn’t going to be enough to sustain and grow my business. While I enjoyed notary work, I found that I was even more passionate about coordinating tasks like financial management and handling international documents, such as apostille facilitation.
That realization led to a major pivot in my business. I had to learn entirely new skills and take on areas I hadn’t worked in before. As a business owner, it’s always a challenge to master one area and then start over in another, but these pivots are essential whenever the business reaches a milestone and requires a shift in focus.
Pivoting isn’t just about change; it’s about being intentional and committed to driving the business forward. Each pivot has taught me that growth comes from stepping out of your comfort zone, learning new skills, and embracing the evolution that comes with running your own company.
