We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yogi Bryan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yogi below.
Yogi , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The yoga and meditation journey transformed my life. It all started as an accident. I created an Instagram page to make fun of yoga then I ended up falling in love with yoga. I became healthier losing weight and felt better mentally. I was going through a really rough time when I found yoga and it truly saved my life. Now my mission is to share my practice of yoga so people can develop a healthy body and peaceful mind. My goal is to help the world release 10 billion f*cks.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into my industry on accident. I created an instagram account to make fun of yoga. I was inspired to create the instagram account because I saw a friend on Instagram posting yoga photos on her kitchen counter, bed, and other places in her house because of a yoga challenge she was participating at her studio. I thought this was ridiculous so I decided to create an Instagram account making fun of the yoga community. The account became popular so I figured I should join a yoga studio so I can learn yoga and make fun of it more. As I was practicing yoga in the studio I realized it was helping me out so much physically and mentally. I lost weight and my thoughts were clearer. I was hooked. Soon after I enrolled in Yoga Teacher Training and it felt like a natural process. During yoga teacher training the studio owner asked me if I’d like to co-teach a rooftop yoga event for over 200 people. That was my first ever class I taught in front of over 200 people. I knew I was on the right path. After graduating I was on the studio schedule as a yoga teacher. My journey transformed even deeper when I challenged myself to a 90 day meditation challenge. I told myself I would meditate for 90 days no matter what. Since that challenge I’ve meditated almost every day since. During the start of the pandemic I decided to record my meditations on a podcast called Relax with Yogi Bryan. The podcast has been a success and this year reached 1M plays. I continue to go deeper in my yoga and meditation practice. Last year I became certified in hypnosis and neuro linguistic programming (NLP). I have started my own Meditation Teacher Academy and I teach students how to go deeper in their own practice so they can teach others.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started my brand in 2016 as a joke. At the time I was branded as Namaste AF. I grew the Instagram to over 60k followers until I had to rebrand to Yogi Bryan. Currently my Instagram has a little over 45k at @yogi_bryan, my TikTok is over 70k, and I continue to grow my YouTube, Pinterest, and others. I am a big fan of Gary Vee and listening to him really helped me grow my online presence. The biggest thing that helped me grow an audience was doing a meditation podcast. I was listening to a Seth Godin podcast, Seth is an amazing business writer and entrepreneur. He said do something 100 days in a row to get practice in. I decided to record meditations consistently. I didn’t do 100 days in a row but I recorded consistent meditations on Relax with Yogi Bryan Podcast. The podcast gained momentum and now has 1M plays. During the process of consistently creating meditation audios I learned how to edit and mix the audios. I learned how to develop my voice through voice exercises. I learned how to pace the words and what words to use. I took online trainings to learn hypnosis, neuro linguistic programming, and Qigong. I was obsessed with being consistent and it’s the biggest factor in my podcast success. Being consistent and doing something over and over again.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Knowing my mission and goal of what I want to do has helped build my reputation in my market. My motto is it’s just f*ckin yoga because I have to remind myself to not take my practice so seriously. People relate to this motto. I say this motto not to disrespect to yoga at all. I take my practice seriously but I don’t at the same time. When I get competitive or compare my yoga practice to others I tell myself this motto. It really helps. I feel like I have found my voice but at the same time my voice keeps evolving. I want to inspire people to find their voice. I love seeing people step past their fears and rise up with their authentic voice.
