We were lucky to catch up with Yma Philo recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Yma, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.

The most life-changing risk I’ve ever taken was signing the contract for my event space for Amplify, my manifestation workshops.

When I first began searching for a location, I was fixated on finding the cheapest space I could. This was a reflection of my old mindset—one rooted in scarcity, fear of losing money, and limiting beliefs about my worth and what I could afford. I was thinking from the perspective of a new, hesitant business owner rather than the confident leader I wanted to become.

I spent months combing through listings, walking through uninspiring venues, and feeling stuck. None of the spaces I saw resonated with my vision or felt aligned with the energy I wanted to bring to Amplify. I was getting frustrated. In the back of my mind, I knew that settling for something “good enough” wasn’t what my workshops deserved, but I was afraid to take the leap into a space that felt right but seemed out of reach financially.

One day, a chance conversation with a stranger changed everything. During a casual chat, I mentioned my search for an event space, and they suggested I check out a website I had never heard of before. With little expectation, I followed their advice, and to my surprise, I found the perfect space—it matched my aesthetic, my branding, and felt like the physical embodiment of my vision for Amplify. It was beautiful, inspiring, and everything I didn’t know I had been looking for.

Even though I felt an immediate connection to the space, doubt started to creep in. The price was higher than I had planned for, and I began second-guessing whether I could afford it. But something inside told me to reach out to the owner directly instead of going through the third-party website. It was a moment of clarity, a shift in mindset from playing small to stepping into the role of a business owner who is confident in her vision.

When I contacted the owner, not only did she love my mission and what Amplify stood for, but she also gave me a 50% discount on the space! On top of that, she invited me to a networking event she was hosting, which opened up even more opportunities. This was confirmation that my decision to push through fear and self-doubt was leading me in the right direction.

Signing that contract was more than just securing an event space—it was a pivotal moment where I chose to stop thinking from a place of lack and start thinking from a place of abundance. I let go of my limiting beliefs about money and embraced the idea that when I invest in myself and my business, the return will be even greater. I had to embody the mindset of a successful business owner who believed in her own worth and in the value of her work.

Since then, my workshops have been packed out. The energy in that space, combined with the shift in my self-concept, has allowed Amplify to flourish in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Looking back, I realize that taking this risk wasn’t just about securing a physical space—it was about stepping into the mindset of abundance, trusting myself, and knowing that everything I invest in will come back to me tenfold. It was a risk that led to exponential growth, both personally and professionally, and it continues to shape how I approach every decision I make in my business.

I’m Yma (ee-ma), the founder of ICISIM (I Claimed It So It’s Mine) also pronounced “is-izzum”, a manifestation-focused community and platform designed to help people step into their true power as deliberate creators of their reality. My journey into manifestation started in 2019 when I was gifted “The Secret”. That single book opened the door to a deep exploration of Universal Laws like the Law of Assumption and the Law of Attraction, and introduced me to teachers such as Neville Goddard, Joseph Murphy, and Esther Hicks. These teachings were life-changing for me, not only because they shifted my mindset but because they allowed me to manifest my dream life—including my home, my career, my relationships, and even a deeper sense of self-confidence and independence.

ICISIM was born out of my passion for sharing the transformation I experienced with others. I realized that I wanted to help people reprogram their minds, step into their true identities, and manifest the life they truly deserve—just as I had done for myself. The main problem I solve for my clients is helping them break free from their limiting beliefs. Most people struggle to manifest because they are trapped in old patterns, rooted in self-doubt, fear, or unworthiness. I teach them how to shift their self-concept, remove those limiting beliefs, and step into the version of themselves that is capable of attracting everything they desire. My clients learn to move from a state of lack to a state of abundance, and from wanting to fully having.

I go deep into self-concept work, emotional regulation, and helping clients understand that manifestation isn’t about chasing desires—it’s about becoming the version of yourself who already has them. Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

Two books that have significantly impacted my entrepreneurial thinking and management philosophy are “Feeling is the Secret” by Neville Goddard and “Ask and It Is Given” by Esther Hicks.

“Feeling is the Secret” taught me the foundational principle of manifesting—that our feelings are the creative force behind our reality. Goddard emphasizes that the subconscious mind is most powerfully influenced by how we feel about our desires. This philosophy deeply shaped the way I approach both my business and personal life. When managing my business, I focus not only on the practicalities of strategy and execution but on the emotional alignment behind every decision. I understand that the feeling of certainty and faith that I carry into my actions is what brings about the results I seek. I’ve integrated this teaching into how I manage my team, my business vision, and the clients I work with—making sure everything is aligned with the energy of success and fulfillment before taking action.

Esther Hicks’ “Ask and It Is Given” transformed how I view the power of intention and deliberate creation in entrepreneurship. Hicks’ teachings on the Law of Attraction have shown me that once you are clear about what you want and allow yourself to receive it, the universe aligns everything in your favor. As an entrepreneur, this philosophy encourages me to remain clear about my goals and take inspired action rather than forced action. It has taught me to trust that the resources, opportunities, and support will come once I set a clear intention and focus on my alignment with the outcome. This belief in ease and flow instead of struggle and hustle has shaped my leadership style and the way I operate ICISIM. I strive to create a business culture where inspiration and alignment lead the way, instead of stress and over-exertion.

Together, these books have helped me foster a mindset of limitless possibilities, not only for myself but for the people I work with. They have shaped the way I lead, create, and offer value through my business by focusing on energy and alignment first, followed by inspired, intentional action.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

One time, I found myself in a situation where I had to pivot quickly, and it turned into a powerful lesson in faith and perseverance. I had planned one of my Amplify manifestation workshops, but in the days leading up to the event, I noticed that only one ticket had been sold. Naturally, I began to question whether this event was meant to happen. I started to wonder if this was a sign that I needed to redirect my efforts elsewhere.

I was ready to pivot—my plan was to use the event space that day to film a YouTube video instead, thinking it would be a more productive use of my time since the turnout didn’t seem promising. But then, something unexpected happened: on the day of the event, people began showing up last-minute and purchasing tickets at the door! What had seemed like a failure at first ended up being a fully attended, successful event.

This experience was a powerful reminder of the importance of faith and persistence. Even when I was ready to doubt my own success, having the right self-concept allowed me to push through that doubt. I learned that even when external circumstances seem to point in the opposite direction, your mindset and alignment can shift everything in an instant.

Interestingly, two of the attendees who showed up to that very session are now my personal assistants! Not only did that day turn out to be a success for the workshop, but it also connected me to people who now help me grow my business and share in the mission of ICISIM.

This pivot was a blessing in disguise and reinforced that I should never make decisions from a place of fear or doubt. The key lesson I took from this is that success often shows up when you least expect it—if you trust the process, remain aligned with your vision, and persist, even when things seem uncertain.
