We recently connected with Yisheng Zhou and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yisheng, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
At TeggX Studio, our mission is to bring unique, immersive sound experiences to the world of media, particularly in video games and film. For me, this mission is deeply meaningful because it stems from my own journey as an artist. Growing up with classical piano and later diving into the world of music technology, I found my passion in sound design and scoring. But beyond just creating music or sound, I realized the power of audio to evoke emotions, tell stories, and enhance the depth of any project. This mission became a way for me to share the potential of sound—not just musically, but as a tool to connect, inspire, and bring people into a world that’s felt rather than just seen. Every project we take on is an opportunity to give life to the unspoken aspects of a story or experience, helping artists, creators, and audiences feel a deeper connection to what’s being presented. It’s not just about making great sound; it’s about making sound that makes a difference.
Yisheng, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Yisheng Zhou, the founder of TeggX Studio, and my journey into the world of sound design and music composition started with classical piano training in my youth. As I transitioned into high school, I became increasingly fascinated by pop music and music production, which eventually led me to pursue my passion at Berklee College of Music, where I focused on writing and technology. After I gained some experience from different aspects in music: Performance, production, technology etc, I discovered that my true talent is more as a “Sound story-teller”, that leads me into sound design and scoring for media, particularly in video games and film. At TeggX Studio, I specialize in crafting unique soundscapes and compositions that enhance storytelling and immersive experiences. My work revolves around helping clients communicate their audio vision more clearly and efficiently. Since most of my clients are independent filmmaker & Game Developers, finding ways to streamline their projects to reduce unnecessary workload and budget without compromising quality is also my focus. What sets me apart is my ability to provide creative input from an audio perspective, helping artists fully realize their ideas through sound. One of my proudest accomplishments has been completing an independent film with Orion Zhang, a Film director studied in Canada. From a movie without live recordings during shooting, to a fully immersive surround sound experience. My passion lies in exploring the full potential of sound, not just musically, but in ways that enhance the emotional depth of any project. I’m dedicated to bringing professional audio to every project, helping my clients succeed by elevating their work to the next level.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Utilitarian speaking, I think it would be gaining fame and fortune from it and promote the development of the industry. But honestly, apart from the secular world aspect, I don’t think there is anything special: I just know that I want to do so, and I have to do so. I started myself as a musician, shifting my interest to a sound artist in the near future. As my career and skills grows, I don’t think I will only limiting myself in sounds, but trying different field to express my thoughts. For me, the form doesn’t matter, the only matters is that using a most appropriate and efficient way to express the ideas.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I believe the most rewarding part of being an artist lies in our heightened sensitivity and observation. We see what others often miss—whether it’s the hidden beauty in ordinary moments or the deeper layers of familiar stories. By gaining a unique understanding from these, we strive to turn our ideas into reality. The process can be exhausting and, at times, painful. We often approach our work like a “martyr,” dedicating ourselves fully, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. But the sparks of inspiration we capture along the way are priceless. We are tired from it, but never tired of it.
