Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yimeng Sun. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yimeng, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Of course, I am a motion designer with a background in animation, having begun my career at The Mill immediately after completing my education. I specialized in 2d graphics and studied 3D as a side hustle. The most interesting thing about my job is to see my creations come to life on television, social media, or billboards which makes me so proud, and love the reaction when people know I’m part of this cool project.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I’m glad you asked this question! I think valuing art and respecting art is one of the ways to ensure a healthy environment for creatives. That’s why I love the art market, you can see a variety of art forms sharing and selling in the market which appeals to me. Interacting directly with customers and receiving immediate feedback is also motivating. Selling more artwork and gaining appreciation fuels artists’ desire to create more art within this ecosystem.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
As an artist, what matters most to me is that people appreciate and take pleasure in my work. I want to merge my taste in art with commercial projects, not just in the art world but also for the brands. Forming a positive cycle can use works to promote market recognition and promote works through higher recognition.
