We were lucky to catch up with Yilin Li recently and have shared our conversation below.

Yilin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had started sooner?

I still wish I could have started earlier, because starting earlier allows me to look for more possibilities in the process of painting. Because for me, painting is a process to be enjoyed, I think I can find and feel more wonderful experiences in different pieces of artwork!

Yilin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m an illustrator as well as an artist, and of course I do some designing. These are all related projects and I can have a lot of fun with them. I like to study the cultures of the East and I think there is a lot of mystery and greatness in these cultures. I also like the expression of western painting, the impact of those images is very attractive to me. I choose to experiment in different fields because I can have new experiences, which I think is a very important process in my life!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

I create a lot of work that can be enjoyed and is visually pleasurable to those who view it, and I consider that to be a well-done accomplishment. I love to see people enjoying my work, and I love that my work can bring joy to people!

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?

I think society should be more tolerant of accepting different art forms. Even though some art forms are bold and out of the ordinary, they are wonderful. It is very important for the development of art that people should accept art forms that are beyond their imagination as much as possible.
