We were lucky to catch up with Yessenia Perez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yessenia, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I honestly think I was just born to be a photographer. From Polaroids to waterproof Kodak cameras, I’ve been in love with the art in photography since I was little. Throughout the years I taught myself the basics, and the essentials such as angles and lighting just naturally came along. Knowing what I know now, I would focus more on building a solid portfolio and using automation to make booking more easily accessible.
I think photography is a very competitive field to be in. There’s so many styles and forms that essentially being social and creative/ confident in your work is what keeps your business going.
I’d say a very common obstacle as a photographer is confusing inspiration with comparison. I tend to be hard on myself and sometimes get caught up in comparing my work to others. Which in return can often lead me to pointing out the “flaws” in my work. I’ve learned to accept my art for what it is, not everyone may like it but the right people do.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Sure! I originally used to just walk around downtown Dallas asking random people if they’d like some pictures of themselves taken. On one of those instances I got the opportunity to shoot some nature images for a small traveling business and from there my services have been offered internationally and all over the U.S. I’m a creative photographer that specializes in a big of everything. Such as family, maternity, baby, creativity and lifestyle along with weddings/ elopement’s. I personally think my style sets me apart, when I start shooting my brains creativity goes wild and it’s as if I can see the final product before we even start. It flows naturally and I’ pride myself in always being able to capture a clients vision. I’m a very talkative and social individual who’s able to make any client feel as if we’re long time friends. From Texas to Thailand, I know that when a client comes to me, the work will always get done right
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I love them lol. I think everyone should do their own research into them, but ultimately with the right project and team behind one, success is almost guaranteed. With my field of work I’m actually able to turn my photos into NFTS and truly label them as the art that they are.
I fully believe that in the next few years the USD will be replaced digitally.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. Photography is just the beginning. I want to eventually use my skill and expand it into the meta verse and crypto world and take full advantage of the digital opportunities opening up. My goal is to merge photography, crypto, NFT, meta and the beauty industry into one amazing project that benefit nonprofit organizations in Latin countries that specialize in bringing education into lower income families/ communities. I have big plans for the future.
