We recently connected with Yesenia Alegria and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Yesenia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Coming from a background of being a very shy child it was very hard for me to make friends when I was in school. I would always be excluded from events and birthday parties. I remember this one day in elementary school one of the girls was having a birthday party and I was the new kid to top it off, she was asking one of her friends of who they should invite and I’ll never forget her mentioning my name and the other girl saying no she’s to shy and quiet. That broke my heart. I was devastated because I wanted to be popular and go to parties and have actual friends. I was always moving so it was hard for me. Then going into middle school same thing until I was in 8th grade. I told myself Yessi you’re going to be popular this year! I kind of broke out of my shell and next thing I knew I was sitting with the cool kids. Ever since then even though I’m still very shy I remember of how my life changed because I told myself let’s do this. Let’s get out of our comfort zone.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the entertainment industry when I was very young. Elementary all through high school I was always in choir or drama or dance. I knew from a very young age I was going to be working somewhere that had to do with one or all of those. I started an internship at a local station in Connecticut and from there was promoted to their promotion director. I later then moved down to Miami to start a new life and ended up in a variety of radio stations until I landed my goal to be on air at El Zol 1067.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had more street smarts during this whole journey when it comes to resources. A lot of the entertainment industry requires street smarts and in my opinion if I would’ve had that I’d be a whole lot further. However, Gods plan is perfect and he knows what he’s doing. He’s leading the way.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal right now as a radio personality and business owner of Mun2Trap is to change the world. I have that in the works but it’s coming soon.
