We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yesenia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Yesenia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I created Celestial Aesthetics while I was pregnant with my second child because I wanted to be sure I was able to create and build a legacy for my children—they’ve been my “why” since I found out I was pregnant. I knew I needed to create something that I can leave for them while also doing something which I enjoy, which is helping others.
Once my second child was born, I took a leap and immediately jumped into my first little salon suite, offering cosmetic tattoos and body sculpting. Failure simply wasn’t an option; I needed to create an anchor for my family.
The logic behind why I felt this would work was simple: I knew exactly what it felt like to have your confidence chipped away by life, and I knew how badly people needed a safe space to get it back. A lot of the beauty industry can feel superficial, but my approach was different. When clients came into my suite, it wasn’t just about the physical treatments. They were often fighting their own silent battles. I realized that by combining high-level technical skills with actual, genuine empathy, I was creating a sanctuary for them.
What got me most excited was seeing a client look in the mirror after a session and physically stand taller. We weren’t just changing skin; we were restoring confidence. I knew this was a worthwhile endeavor because I saw that immediate, deep shift in people.

Yesenia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Today, I am an Emmy Award-winning brand builder, creative director, and a Licensed Esthetician. If you looked at those titles on paper, you might wonder how they tie together, but my entire career has been driven by the exact same thing: a deep love for storytelling, visual impact, and helping people stand taller.
As I mentioned, I started out in the beauty industry with my own salon space. But while the business was growing, my personal life required me to make a major shift. As a single mother, I had to make the incredibly tough decision to close my studio so I could ensure I was able to give my all to my kids.
But I didn’t give up—I pivoted. I’ve always been an extremely creative person, so I decided to pursue a video production course. I wanted to dive into a discipline that I could still passionately work on while balancing the demanding care my kids needed. That leap completely unlocked the next chapter of my life. It led me directly into digital media, website design, content creation, and high-end brand building for other businesses.
Through this work, I partnered with a program called Salud 24/7, which focused on helping the Hispanic community gain access to vital health information. It completely aligned with my core passion of helping others. After working with their team for a couple years, we actually managed to win an Emmy Award for one of our special episodes. It is a milestone I am incredibly, humbly proud of.
I don’t just help people “capture a photo”—I solve the problem of helping bold businesses translate their raw ideas into a cohesive, high-definition visual identity that commands attention.
If there is one major thing I want potential clients, followers, or anyone feeling stuck to take away from my journey, it is to never give up and never be afraid to pivot. I am proud of every single step and obstacle that got me to where I am today. There is always a path forward that will work out in your favor—you just have to go full force with it, adapt, and watch everything fall into place.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
To me, resilience isn’t just about enduring a tough situation; it’s about what you do when you are completely exhausted but failure isn’t an option.
When I was starting out in my first salon suite, I was navigating a really heavy situation at home as a single mother. Because I was taking care of my kids entirely on my own, there were days when I had to bring them into the suite with me while I saw clients.
Balancing a high-contact service like body sculpting or cosmetic tattooing while keeping an eye on your children in a small space is terrifying and exhausting. There were days I didn’t know how I was going to pull it off, but every time I looked at them, I remembered they were my ‘why.’
Resilience was showing up every single day with a smile for my clients, giving them a luxury experience, and refusing to let my personal struggles dictate my future.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The biggest pivot came when I made the incredibly tough decision to close my salon studio. My youngest had just been diagnosed with level 3 autism, and I knew I had to completely reinvent how I worked so I could be fully present for his therapies. Walking away from a growing business that I built with my own two hands wasn’t easy, but protecting my family’s peace was the only thing that mattered.
Instead of viewing it as a defeat, I leaned into my creative roots and went full force into a video production course. I needed a career that was flexible but still high-impact, which completely unlocked my path into digital media, brand strategy, and content creation. Pivoting taught me that you don’t have to stay in one box to be successful. You can take the exact same drive that made you good at one industry, apply it to something completely new, and still reach heights you never imagined—like winning an Emmy.
