Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yemi Nicholson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Yemi, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Running a recording studio has been an exciting venture. Working with passionate artists and helping them grow in their craft is what its about. However, realized running a recording studio involves much more than just making music. It requires a combination of artistic, managerial, and business skills to make it successful. Once the business aspect was established, the studio was built, its been about creating and growing with the artists which has been awesome!
Yemi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Music has always been a huge passion. I’ve always had a “portable” studio with me from a young age and was later able to build a studio for artists to use to create. Yemi’s Studio provides recording, mixing, and production services. Its not only music that is needed from the studio. A lot of times voiceovers, poetry, and sound design is done as well.A lot of artists like a more intimate space and style of studio which is what we provide. The quality and vibe at Yemi’s Studio is what makes it a desirable recording space. Every artist leaves happy with an industry standard product which has been the main goal of the business from the start.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The beginning stages of running a business, including a recording studio, can indeed be challenging and discouraging, especially when business is slow. This is the time to be resilient and work hard on finding ways to grow while your work isn’t busy. However, this is precisely the time when resilience, patience, and hard work are crucial. Its a skill that cant be looked over.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Always having to find new ways to keep clients in the studio. One way for the studio to get more work was to add more services. In the beginning we were only recording, but now there have been many more added which helps the artist finish with a complete project in one place. This is something that separates us from other recording studios around.
