We recently connected with Yazming Ross and have shared our conversation below.
Yazming, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
My idea for my creative services business, HYPH MIND Creative Agency, stemmed from my experiences and observations. As I grew older, I noticed that imagination and creativity were often undervalued and dismissed as impractical. I realized many people, especially children, lacked the proper support and encouragement to explore their creative ideas.
My childhood dreams of becoming a teacher and a ballet dancer were not realized, and I began to question why society tends to stifle the imagination of young individuals. I firmly believe that imagination is a fundamental aspect of our lives and shouldn’t be overlooked or discouraged.
I wanted to create a company that would empower individuals to explore their imaginative ideas and bring them to life. I saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between creativity and practical implementation. The concept of HYPH MIND began to take shape as I envisioned a platform that provided various creative services to help bring people’s visions to reality.
This endeavor was worthwhile because I understood the immense potential that lies within each person’s creativity. By tapping into this creativity, I believe individuals could bring about positive change and innovation. I saw the logic behind the success of this business in the unmet need for a supportive and nurturing environment for creative ideas to flourish.
I recognized the value of creativity in various industries, from graphic design and branding to web development and social media management. I was strongly convinced that by offering these services, I could assist small businesses in revamping their branding and help fellow creatives execute their ideas effectively.
I wanted to go beyond just offering services and build a community that nurtures imagination and creativity, especially in children. I envisioned programs and schools where children could freely express themselves and explore creative mediums. I knew that by providing this support, we could foster an environment where imagination and creation thrive, benefiting the community and the world.
The idea for HYPH MIND Creative Agency originated from a deep-seated belief in the power of imagination and the necessity of providing a supportive platform for creative expression. I knew that by combining creative services with a focus on nurturing imagination, I could succeed as a business and contribute positively to society.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my journey as an artist, working across various mediums such as music, creative direction, and entrepreneurship. I have collaborated with a diverse range of artists, from indie to high-profile ones, as well as business owners and seasoned creatives. This experience led me to create the name HYPH MIND, signifying a multi-hyphenate approach.
Over time, I noticed a common issue among talented and creative individuals: They often struggle to convey their ideas effectively to their audience. This observation drove me to establish HYPH MIND as not just another creative agency but a partner in creativity. We aim to support, inspire, and help our clients achieve their creative vision.
At HYPH MIND, teamwork enables smoother execution and brings ideas to life as envisioned. Our services go beyond conventional creative agency offerings. We are exceptionally proud of our collaborative approach to every project, allowing us to effectively support our clients and help them realize their creative potential.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One book that has significantly impacted my mindset and philosophy is “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. This book played a significant part in my life, particularly in terms of helping me embrace the concept of living in the present moment and letting go of the constant urge to dwell in the past or constantly wait for the future, always waiting for the “right” time to create or release my latest project. I would wake up in the morning and go to the gym and listen to a book in between days of listening to music or watching my favorite vlogger at the time, but it felt like every time I would listen to the book, its message would be right on time where I was at on my journey. It has influenced my approach to managing challenges and handling interactions with others and has been instrumental in my personal growth. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to cultivate a more mindful and present mindset.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
As creatives, our most important responsibility is to be mindful of the things we create and introduce to the world. We must be aware of what we bring into the world and what we choose to showcase. My favorite scene from the film “Scarface” is when he says, “The world is yours, and everything in it.” I interpret this scene as accurate because we create our own world through the things around us, what inspires us, and the people we surround ourselves with. Most of my inspiration comes from those who are around me and the work of other creatives. Thus, everything around us is a creation, and when conveying this to our audience, I believe it should be open, honest, and a reflection of ourselves. Every successful person I’ve met or business I’ve seen flourish was successful because the company wasn’t just a separate entity; they created their business as an extension of who they were as a person and found a way to share and translate that to their audience.
