We were lucky to catch up with Yayi Osuntoyin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Yayi Osuntoyin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The true-story behind what led me to lead and serve through the divine mission as a spiritualist is not only because its my ancestral birthright, but because saved me and many others. I also know in my core, it will save the world. I realize all that I experienced in life as a youth until now was preparing me for this journey.
A journey that heals generational dysfunction and misfortunes within my bloodline, myself, and those whom I assist.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Greetings, I’m Yayi Osuntoyin, and always honored to be given a chance to share a little of my true-story.
In short, I’m the Owner & Creator of “Hood Ritualz & Beauty LLC” which was rebranded by name in 2020 as I wanted a umbrella name that could represent the many facets of what I offer without limiting it.
Hood Ritualz & Beauty LLC is a Professional Holistic Beauty, Metaphysical & Spiritual Service, and Product Brand.
Services are customized and products are made by hand. Owned and Operated by a Licensed Esthetician, Beauty Specialist, and Priestess of traditional spiritualism. It’s my passion, personal calling, and an ancestral art form.
All of my creations and items are carefully selected and or crafted in a safe, sanitary, and blessed environment with love and positive intent. I craft in-house all root oils, herbal blends, fixed candles, and more in controlled- energy focused batches, offering healing and defense- for specific needs. Ritual and remedies are always an individual process, therefore requires divination for the person seeking to have it done.
Products are created to aid in but are not limited to, increasing better quality of life through spiritual symbiosis to help with mental, spiritual, fertility, sexuality, menstrual, digestive issues, and MUCH more.
Herbal Teas, skincare products, ritual oils, candles, herbs, and creations are personal recipes created by Yayi, owner of Hood Ritualz & Beauty LLC-only. Our recipes work, and have been checked through divination and tried by clients with very good results.
Though we used guided intuition, we have taken heed to oral studies of our ancestor’s traditions in herbalism, spiritualism, and extended education in other areas.
In the aspect of spirituality, I didn’t really “get into” this industry like so many today that are shooting their shot at spiritualism etc. This is who I am, have been before this lifetime. My gifts were always there. Even after several ceremonies, initiations, and lessons I realized the most profound awakenings came directly from within. No one can teach that, you have to experience it- live it.
As far as my Beauty & Skincare Products & Services I became a Licensed Esthetician in 2009 and Nail Technician a few years later. I have always loved art, beauty and doing things with my hands. I originally went to school to become licensed to do theater and stage makeup. I immediately fell in love with skincare in general.
I knew while I was still in school that I wanted to work with and create herbal products as I saw the benefit in them and how much poison was in popular mainstream products. I was also certified in “Advanced Product Knowledge” which assisted me in my bases to create my herbal formulas- though it took outside research along with trials and errors.
When I started crafting my soaps, butters, tinctures it wasn’t trendy nor easy to make sales. I just believed in it. I kept going.
I tried family in the beginning, that wasn’t very supportive at that time. One family member went ahead and hit me with the “well imma support your lil project” and purchased one thing… no update, feedback nothing lol! Its the healer, the earth, the ancestors, the universe in me that motivates me- because I know better. If I waited on praise from others I would have given up, stayed depressed and who knows what. I’m just answering a call that doesn’t leave me. I don’t do what I do for gratification, though appreciation is beautiful.
Even when I have no clients purchasing or receiving services, no matter the length of time in between business traffic- I still create, I still venerate my ancestors, feed my spirit with knowledge and stay in sync with the voice of the universe.
This is not divisive from me, and is a natural way of life for me.
My discipline is more based on this unshakable drive to complete what I set out to do here, vs sticking to a specific schedule. I do have my methods to organize, produce and execute.
Even when I’m passed up, I know what sacrifices I’ve made, struggles I survived, tears, pain and rejection on this path I’ve endured- I never actually stop. I may rest, I may want to give up- but I don’t. The love, knowledge, time and unique way I have been blessed to view all that I have learned while simplifying a way to share it cannot be compared to many others.
In contrast to the fact I wasn’t handed a leg up so to speak, I realized I am proud of myself.
Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
Wow, well I recently had a near death moment for my business. Aside from my husband and daughter who have their own lives, I have two younger children.
My hubby and daughter help in ways they can- but the planning, production, cost, social media, services, inventory management, website are also all my doing. Including all the small details that make the business whole.
I feel like a team who believes in you, contributes, and pushes you are invaluable.
After all the years of work, and moving around and starting over we came back to GA the “Pandemic ” scare happened but in the most I was able to start me a storefront in a International Mall which I was very proud of.
Still because of the area and timing of everyone staying in or whatever, it made foot traffic hard.
We moved from that area after a year of me being in that space. It wasn’t worth me keeping it due to slowing of business and the drive.
That was September 2021 when I closed my first storefront. Approximately 1 year after opening.
I couldn’t afford to hire anyone either to help, and due to the sacred nature of most of my business they would have to be carefully picked.
So that move led to some serious downtime, depression, and it happened right when I turned 40 so it hit me differently.
However, I didn’t stop crafting and creating. I attempted to shift everything to online which I’m no IT expert but used to doing those things on my own.
I realized that online selling, social media and the like had become just as if not more saturated and unfairly controlled. I couldn’t seem find my sweet spot.
This down spirals led me to wanting to shut it down, and just sell everything because no one cared if I was authentic.
I felt washed out in society before I even soared.
To put all I put into what I do, have time for my children, husband, self, peace and try to keep up with media is ridiculously overwhelming.
I for one and not willing to live my entire life through just social media, but if you don’t no ones really knows you exist this days.
Here I am now, still at it. I am currently considering opening another space.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
If you knew what I have gone through, my entire life from birth was nothing short of resilience. Its so many things that it would be hard to narrow it enough. All that has been mentioned in this interview, sparing details and graphics took resilience.
