Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yayi Dia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yayi, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind the mission of Mind Over Matter LLC is quite literally in the name. Growing up in an economically challenged environment, unstable minds so often went overlooked or untreated. I experienced this first hand in my personal life, and I watched it affect my entire community, including close friends and family members. Mind Over Matter is the ideology that once the mind and spirit is fulfilled and submerged in divine purpose that it creates a trickle down effect into the rest of your life, that is, physically, emotionally, and financially. Mind Over Matter is very personal to me, and I live in the essence of the mission for the company every single day.

Yayi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Yayi Dia. I am a business owner, model, and creator from St. Louis, MO! I am the founder and CEO of Mind Over Matter LLC, a community established to promote growth in all areas of life. Mind Over Matter was rooted in relatability through the creation of products that can be used by anyone to help cultivate some form of life improvement mentally, physically, emotionally, and/or financially. The Mind Over Matter Daily Journal and the Mind Over Matter Digital Planner are the products that we provide, and the newest collection is coming to be available on Amazon.com by July 2o23. Though our products were created to benefit anyone, they are targeted towards those who struggle with or have struggled with some form of mental health concern (diagnosed and undiagnosed), and are economically challenged, therefore lacking the proper resources to seek professional help.
I think what sets myself as well as Mind Over Matter LLC apart from others is that even though there is a specific target audience we look to reach through our platform (podcast “Mind Over Matter by Yayi Dia” available for listening on Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Podcasts) and our products, it still maintains that ability to bring together a diverse wave of people who follow the vision alone, those coming from all walks of life and are just as passionate as I am.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There are two books that I can totally credit for my entrepreneurial mindset as well as the philosophy I carry on my entrepreneurial journey. The first book is called “The Business of the 21st Century”. It is written by Robert Kiyosaki, who is also the author of the well renowned book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”. This book helped me to completely pivot in a more clearcut direction for the company universally, but especially in the age of information technology.
The second book that has mostly shaped my management and business philosophy is called “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” by John C. Maxwell. When I began my entrepreneurial journey (first in network marketing), I watched so many of Maxwell’s teaching videos and grew to love and respect his leadership philosophies which led me in the direction of this book. All I will say is if you are an entrepreneur in this day and age or are thinking about pursuing entrepreneurship to any degree, then you should give these two books a read!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Many people don’t even know just how new I am to the social media space. I am 19 years old, and I only created my Instagram 4 years ago as a sophomore in high school. All of my friends kind of jumped on me at one time about making an Instagram page, and at the time, I had no intention on using it to completely upscale my following and my businesses. I grew my Instagram from 0 to 5700 followers in the last four years and had reached over 100,000 people in one month at one point.
My advice to someone building their social media presence is to be yourself unapologetically. Those who follow someone they admire and love for just who they are will follow their vision. Establish your personal identity first, and your vision immediately after.
