We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yasmin Jande. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yasmin below.
Hi Yasmin, thanks for joining us today. undefined
The most innovative thing I’ve done is build a minimalist hair care brand rooted in faith—JANDE Hair. I launched it with a single product, the Goodness Hydrating Repair Mask, and instead of going the traditional route of overloading customers with a full line, I focused on one highly effective formula that works across all hair types. I integrated scripture into the packaging, not just for branding, but to connect wellness and spirituality in a way that hasn’t been done in the hair space. That blend of simplicity, intention, and spiritual affirmation is what sets the brand apart.

Yasmin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Yasmin Jande, and I’m the founder of JANDE Hair—a minimalist hair care brand rooted in faith, simplicity, and wellness. My journey into the beauty industry came from a personal place: like many women, I’ve had my share of highs and lows with my natural hair. I know what it feels like to crave both healing and confidence in your strands. After years of working in procurement and operations, I decided to pour my skills into building something that speaks to both the spirit and the scalp.
JANDE Hair launched with one hero product—the Goodness Hydrating Repair Mask—a clean, effective treatment designed to restore moisture, bounce, and strength to all hair types. What makes us different isn’t just the formula (which is loaded with botanicals like marula, amla, and murumuru butter), but the intention behind it. Every product is packaged with scripture, because I believe beauty should affirm the soul just as much as it nourishes the body.
My brand solves a simple but overlooked problem: the need for hair care that is both effective and spiritually uplifting. I’m most proud of creating something that women not only love using, but feel something from. JANDE Hair is for the woman who wants to heal, grow, and glow—from the inside out.
I want readers to know that this isn’t just another hair product line. It’s a movement of minimalism, of intention, and of faith-led entrepreneurship. And I’m just getting started.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When I decided to launch JANDE Hair, I didn’t have investors or a big financial cushion—I had my paycheck and a lot of faith. I started by funding the business with money from my 9–5, covering everything from early samples to branding. But as the vision grew, so did the financial need. Eventually, I made the decision to tap into the last of my retirement savings to get the company off the ground.
It was a scary move, but I knew I’d regret not giving this dream a real shot. Using my own money made me incredibly intentional with how I built the brand—every choice, every dollar spent had to matter. That sacrifice pushed me to go harder, think smarter, and treat this brand like the legacy I want it to become.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
When I launched JANDE Hair, I didn’t have a background in cosmetic manufacturing—I just had a formula I believed in and a clear vision for the brand. The journey to find the right manufacturer was honestly one of the hardest parts of starting the business. I spoke with so many vendors, and time after time, I ran into the same roadblock: minimum order quantities (MOQs) that were way beyond my budget. I even had a few manufacturers completely ghost me after I shared my formula. That was discouraging, but it never made me stop.
To make things more difficult, I began this process during COVID, when prices were inflated and most manufacturers had raised their MOQs even higher. For a small, self-funded business with no investors, it felt almost impossible to break in. But I kept pushing—email after email, call after call—until I finally found a manufacturer that was reputable, reliable, and most importantly, willing to work with me to get started.
That experience taught me that persistence is everything. I also learned the importance of protecting your ideas, staying grounded in your values, and never letting closed doors make you doubt the vision.
