Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yasmin Amiri. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yasmin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
Absolutely—I take vacations and fully believe in them. Over time, I realized I can’t pour from an empty cup.
I prioritize systems, delegation, and communication. I’ve learned to empower my team and trust them to keep things running smoothly while I’m away. And funny enough, the world doesn’t end when I’m away for a few days. My team often surprises me with how well they manage.
For entrepreneurs struggling to step away: start small. Even a long weekend can reset your energy and perspective. And most importantly, remember that rest is a business investment, not a luxury.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a general and cosmetic dentist and aesthetic injector based in the DMV area. I’m a partner at Advanced Dental Center in Germantown, Maryland, and also provide facial aesthetic services at Nova MedSculpt in Fairfax, Virginia. I work at the intersection of health, beauty, and confidence—helping people feel good about their smiles and themselves.
Funny enough, I didn’t always know I wanted to be a dentist. I actually started out in finance, but I quickly realized I wanted a career that was more hands-on, creative, and personal. I also knew I wanted to be my own boss and have the freedom to design a life and schedule that worked for me. When I circled back to dentistry—something I had grown up around because my mom is a dentist (and now also my business partner!)—it all clicked. Dentistry blends art, health, and business—three things I genuinely enjoy and feel passionate about.
Over time, my love for the craft expanded into facial aesthetics. Whether I’m designing a smile or enhancing someone’s features with Botox or filler, I get to help people feel confident and cared for. And that never gets old.
What sets me apart is the experience I create. I focus on building trust, especially with patients who may be anxious or haven’t been to the dentist in years. I want them to feel seen, heard, and at ease. I also bring my full personality into the room. Yes, I wear my sneakers to work (I’m a sneakerhead!) and it often sparks conversations that help break the ice and make people feel more comfortable. It makes me more approachable and reminds patients that I’m human too.
I’m most proud of building a career that reflects who I am—hands-on, heart-led, and ever evolving. I love sharing what I’ve learned through social media, mentorship, and panels, and showing that healthcare can be high-quality and human at the same time.
And yes—your dentist can also be your injector, your hype woman, your skincare-obsessed travel buddy, and the girl in Nikes who keeps it real in and out of the office.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Managing a team is a constant learning process, but one thing I’ve found to be true: people want to feel appreciated, trusted, and heard. It’s not just about delegating tasks—it’s about building a culture where your team feels safe, supported, and motivated to show up as their best selves.
I try to lead by example—staying positive, communicating clearly, and recognizing wins (big and small). I make space to check in with my team beyond just the day-to-day. A quick “how are you really doing?” can go a long way. I also give my team autonomy and space to own their roles. I don’t believe in micromanaging.
We celebrate each other. When we hit a big team bonus, we took a trip to Cancun. We’ve done 5Ks together, happy hours, you name it. Those moments outside the office help us bond on a real, human level and make the day-to-day work feel more meaningful.
I try to involve my team in decisions when I can, and I listen when they speak up. At the end of the day, people stay where they feel valued and energized. That’s the culture I try to nurture every day.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Honestly, I didn’t start with a grand plan. I began posting on social media to share what I was doing day-to-day. Whether it was a dental case I was proud of, a product I loved, or a glimpse behind the scenes at the office. Over time, I realized people were connecting most with the real moments, not just the polished before-and-afters or clinical tips.
One of the biggest factors in building my audience was teaming up with my social media/content creation team. We were both just starting out, figuring things out as we went—and we’ve grown together ever since. They’ve helped me bring my vision to life and stay consistent, while still keeping things true to who I am.
What’s helped me grow is showing up consistently, being relatable, and letting my full personality shine through. I’m a dentist and injector—but I also love sneakers, weightlifting, travel, and baking. I’ve learned that people connect most when you’re unapologetically yourself.
If you’re just starting out, my biggest advice is: just start. Don’t wait for it to be perfect. Talk like you’re talking to a friend. Share what you know, what excites you, and what makes you different. Your people will find you. And remember, it’s better to build genuine connection with a smaller audience than try to appeal to everyone.
Also, don’t be afraid to grow and evolve. My content has shifted a lot as I’ve grown in my career and found my voice. That’s the point—it should evolve as you do.
