We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brenna Harrison. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brenna below.
Alright, Brenna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
This is such a good question. There are qualities you need to attain to be successful, and every living being is capable of developing them. One thing it takes to be successful is the will and drive to in fact be successful. When you wake up thinking about all the things you want to attain, and you go to sleep thinking how to attain them. Thats will, and if there is a will there is a way. It takes a person who is willing to go through adversity and step over obstacles in their path. Not everything comes with ease, for me it did not and there are some things I am still going through to get to where I want to be in life, but you have to be okay with rolling with the punches. What you see on social media is just a picture of one positive perspective. You do not get to see the trial and tribulations when one is developing their life. You have to remember adversity exist and be okay with going through it. Lastly, it takes persistence to be successful. There are somethings I weren’t persistent with when it came to my studies and my business, but I am learning to gain more persistence and consistency. Always think about what could you be doing more to improve a business plan, website, client relationship, grades, etc.. before you open your social medias apps. I think this is a point we all could grasp a little more including myself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the founder and creator of B-Curlz Hair Care and BreFit Personal Training. You may be thinking that these two things are substantially different from one another, but as a former college soccer player and current healthy hair enthusiast I had the niche for both business executions. However, as of recently I took a short break to establish my medical career after college and prepare for the arrival of my baby boy. I am excited to get back into my businesses with a little one on my hip. B-Curlz Hair Care is my handmade hair care line made with zero alcohols, dyes, perfumes, and harsh chemicals designed to thicken and grow any hair texture. My line helps solve and treat a variety of problems such as bald spots, thinning edges, alopecia, thicker hair goals, itchy scalp, and just simply hair that does not grow. There is a natural solution to almost every hair issue and this is what I am passionate in. My products are available online and in a local shop in East Atlanta, Georgia. I got into this craft in the middle of Covid-19 lockdown to keep my mind off the crazy changes in my life and world. What started off as a small hobby turned into a passion 100 orders later, and I plan on doing many different things with my hair care brand to improve it from my time off.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I recently had the biggest pivot of my life and career thus far actually. I am doing this interview seven months pregnant with my first child. I had to stop everything and take a second to breathe. I was adjusting not only to a new life but preparing for a new life to come. I decided to take a small break from my businesses to establish my medical career after I completed my bachelors degree in Kinesiology. Then I worked to gain all my medical certifications to earn a rewarding and well paid career in it as that has always been my first priority. I ended up in cardiovascular health as a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist. I was over the moon when I finally achieved this, and I granted myself back the privileges on focusing on my small businesses B-Curlz and BreFit Personal Training. I put my site back up and instantly got a couple of orders, and this boosted my drive even more to be better than I was before I took a break from it. As for my personal training business, I am now offering online and virtual training until I have my baby.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I started my businesses completely from scratch. I did not major nor take any business or finance courses whatsoever, so you can imagine the learning curve when it comes to attaining a business, establishing a business, and funding a business. None of these things I knew how to do, and I did not know where to start. Even to this day I feel lost or not knowledgeable in making the best decisions with business but I never gave up on learning better tactics, marketing, resources, recipes, funding, ect..
