Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yasaman Roland. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yasaman, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
Setting up an office from scratch was an initial challenge in itself. Then later after becoming a mom of 4 and balancing family and practice was another challenge. Last, carrying on the practice through this journey has been the biggest challenge because most people are not aware that this kind of dentistry exists. In fact, it’s hard for people to imagine and understand how this works – which is why we share lots of before after pictures on our website to demonstrate the impact. Ofcourse getting through the patient treatments to build this portfolio took alot of time and skill which is a very difficult part of practice building so that people become aware.
The only thing I would’ve done differently is perhaps start this process earlier and maybe finding a partner to do it with. I feel it is important for young professionals to research all opportunities to make good life long career decisions and within their practice, find something that is rewarding to them so they can deliver their best for patients.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
First and foremost, I’m a proud mom of four. Professionally, after 15 years of practicing dentistry in Annapolis, MD, I have re-launched my practice as the “Center for Transformative Dentistry” to better reflect my functional “whole body” approach to dentistry for children and adults. I have a personal and professional interest in overall health and wellness. Therefore, I have seeked higher education through elite professionals and have been blessed with one on one mentoring to help develop my skills and knowledge. My wholistic, multidisciplinary approach is based on the fact that the neck, spine and jaw are interconnected and imbalances in any system can impact the rest of the body. Often, cosmetic concerns, such as chips in the enamel, gaps between teeth, or misalignments are actually symptoms of larger issues with bite function and jaw health, which in turn, can lead to breathing issues, bad posture, TMJ, or sleep disorders. I work to identify the underlying cause rather than just treating symptoms. Through clinical exams and an advanced 3D imaging system, I evaluate how imbalances may be impacting the joints, muscles, soft tissues of skeletal structure, and affecting overall physiological well-being. Essentially, all the body’s systems work together and must be in balance for everything to work properly – your teeth, jaw, face, neck, spine. Hence, this multidisciplinary approach led me to create my signature treatments based on blending proven techniques:
Body Balancing Orthodontics® – reduce the need for orthodontics and often improve aesthetics with more balanced, symmetrical face and smile development
Natural Relief® for TMJ, sleep apnea and chronic headaches sufferers – revealing and solving the root cause of these painful conditions for many patients who have had difficulty finding successful treatment.
Balanced Beauty Lyft® – non-surgical approach to restoring a natural, healthy balance between the face and smile. Muscles relax and people can look years younger.
It’s hard for people to imagine and understand how this works – which is why we share lots of before after pictures on our website to demonstrate the impact. A picture tells the story. The results give people a positive outlook – they feel better about the way they look, they are free from pain, and their jaw and teeth function much better. We have dramatic testimonials because it can be a life-changing experience for people who have lived with issues for years without relief.
I have also worked to make general dentistry more healthy by reducing exposure to toxins, being free from mercury, using natural cleaning products, and providing oxygen ozone therapy.
Best of all, patients receive complete one and one attention during their visits and will feel like family.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Yes because it’s been quite rewarding to watch the transformative experiences that patients have with our practice philosophy and approach.

Can you open up about how you managed the initial funding?
I had no money to start a business. I had to borrow quite a bit of money from the bank including working capital to get started.
