Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yarelis Rojas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yarelis, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
At the beginning of the year, I took a big risk and a leap of faith by leaving my job of 15years. I had been trying fo many years to come up with a good plan for my business and at the beginning of this year I started fresh with a new name and new understanding of how to run it. Back in may I made the decision to leave my regular job and focus on my business full time. The outcome has been incredible!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Yarelis and I am originally from la Isla del Encanto Puerto Rico and I now reside at the sunshine state. I’ve been photographing ever since I was a small child and have been in love with it ever since. I photograph everything from nature to weddings, to pets and families. I believe what sets me apart from others is how I view the world along with how inlay with colors and the natural light. I’ve been told I have a good eye. I like to capture what you normally wouldn’t see in a photograph. I am very proud of the fact that I never gave up on my dream of one day having my own photography business and getting to do what I am most passionate about. When working with clients, I love to keep a good communication and make sure I bring their visions come true. I like to provide a very positive experience and a very fun one as well!!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I become a young mom, and therefore there were lots of struggles in life. By the time by child was 4, I had become a single parent. Financially it was a struggle for many years, but I kept pushing through. I also suffered from some losses in my life which took a great toll on me emotionally and mentally. Over the years, like took many turns but I never gave up my dreams. I also knew that I wanted to be a photographer no matter what. The process was delay a bit, but I trusted it and now I get to do what I am most passionate about. It’s been a long journey, many tears, lots of hardwork but I finally made it happen and I am so thankful for the opportunity.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Staying consistent and finding my own style has definitely helped. Keeping great communication and staying creative has always been very important to me!
