Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yaqeen Thaher. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yaqeen, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
This is a question I think about all the time. It always goes back to “Is this the right path, or the right thing to do?”. I feel like if I’m doing good mentally or spiritually, I’m doing bad as an artist, and if I’m not doing so well, I’m more expressive and creative.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Yaqeen Thaher, I’m mainly known by my nickname “Artist”. I’m a photographer based in Cleveland. My pursuit of artistic expression is what got me to pick up a camera. My focus is portrait and sports photography, however recently I’ve been getting into some videography with plans to start filming short films. Capturing the moment and bringing my client’s vision to reality is what I do. My editing is what separates me from everyone else. Anyone with an idea in mind is someone I love working with, seeing you express yourself is what makes me proud of what I do.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
As cliche as it sounds, my driving factor is emotion. I feel empty when I’m not creating “art”.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The best thing about social media is you get out of it what you put into it. The more consistent and the more you engage the more the algorithm favors you and the more reach you get.
