We were lucky to catch up with Yanitza & Carlos recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yanitza , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Next Stop Adventures LLC was created back in 2018 by Yanitza, just two years after moving to Florida from sunny Puerto Rico. At first, it was a personal blog as an outlet to share the things I loved about Florida. Fast forward to now, it has evolved into an outdoor travel blog where Carlos and I share tips and travel experiences to inspire others to explore the beauty around us in a responsible manner.
Yanitza , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Having an outdoor travel brand has felt right since the very beginning because we both love outdoors! I’m a hiking enthusiast, a PADI Certified Open Water Diver, and the main writer of the blog. And Carlos is an outdoors lover, Jeep enthusiast, and the creator of concepts and ideas. Being able to work with brands that are fascinated by nature and the outdoors just like us, is an incredible feeling! We enjoy creating travel-related content for our readers which is why our mission with Next Stop Adventures is to inspire others to explore the best reward that life has given to us: nature!
By experiencing outdoor travel and sharing it with the world, we feel that we are also raising awareness on how to enjoy the outdoors without leaving traces and caring for our environment.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
We launched our online shop in May 2022 and we use Spring as our platform for it. We feel that since the shop is still at its beginning stage, it’s easy for us to use a platform that gives us the flexibility of not having to store inventory at this time.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Presence in social media is always a work in progress. Just recently, we started putting more work into our social media channels and we’re still in the ‘baby’ stage. Our main presence has always been our blog and social media was just secondary. Now, with video being such an important element of content creation, we’ve been transforming our social media. For those starting out, the best advice we could give is to create a social media calendar and build consistency.
