We were lucky to catch up with Yanira Pedraza recently and have shared our conversation below.
Yanira , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I definitely wish i would’ve sped up and stayed consistent with what i know now. I’ve taken many breaks and deleted and restarted my social media or was trying to figure out what i wanted my instagram to be. Sometimes i wouldn’t even post because i was scared of what people would think but i found myself and im doing great now. So with what i know now i definitely make more of a income than i was before from when i started.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Of course, I started when I was 18 with Slim 400 music artist he wasn’t barely coming up in the industry and we met through Instagram and mailed me clothes to model. Then he invited to model a show and i met more music artist and they would give me clothes to model for them and we would all do photoshoots in Los Angeles. From there people would see my photos and i continued to model for different clothing brands, upcoming brands, jewelry brands, makeup brands, even for photographers. So that’s how i started and still continue to do.
I think my most favorite photos I’ve done are with my daughter. She models as well and gets even more clothes sent to her than me lol!

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
Im not even going to beat around the bush i think NFTs are stupid. They are made for the rich people to get richer. Have i bought some? Yeah i have and it’s pointless. You basically pay for a ownership of a one of a kind digital art. Example, You can trade one bitcoin for another and have the exact same item, but you can’t trade an NFT for another one and get the same thing. NFTs come from the hope that one day, you can sell it for a higher price. You can’t actually hold it in your hands like a poster or painting. It’s an asset that exists to just make more money. Its a bunch of bullshit

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Well just first figure out your theme then nice clean photos i would say. Kind of expressing yourself through your pictures and places you travel. Even making reels that are currently trending with the sounds. Also finding your audience focus on how you want your page to look and if people unfollow it’s okay you will gain your followers back.
