We were lucky to catch up with Yani Nieto recently and have shared our conversation below.
Yani, appreciate you joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Yes, I’ve been able to turn my creative passion into a full-time living, but it definitely wasn’t like that from day one. I started Majestic Balloons KY with very little, just a big dream, a lot of hustle, and the willingness to say “yes” and figure things out later. In the beginning, I worked long hours, along with a full time job I had for 4 years until I decided to quit and be full time to my business, reinvested every dollar back into the business, and focused on building strong relationships with clients.
Major milestones included booking my first large corporate event, expanding into luxury balloon installations, and positioning myself as a go-to vendor for high-end celebrations in Lexington.
If I could have sped up the process, I’d say investing in branding, photography, networking and education in business and finances from day one would have made a huge difference. But every step taught me something, and that’s what shaped the business into what it is today.

Yani, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Yanitza Nieto, founder and creative director of Majestic Balloons KY, a luxury balloon and event décor company based in Lexington, Kentucky. I entered this industry in 2019, inspired by two sisters in Miami who had built an incredibly successful business. Their story lit a spark in me, and I began researching everything I could about the balloon décor world. I’ve always been a very crafty person ever since I was little, I loved decorating, creating with my hands, and making things beautiful.
At first, I honed my skills by decorating birthdays for my daughter, and later, my niece’s first birthday became the moment I decided to officially launch my business. From there, it’s been a journey of constant learning, refining my techniques, and building a brand that focuses on delivering exceptional results for our clients.
We provide balloon décor for all types of events, both corporate and social including weddings, baptisms, birthdays, grand openings, and so much more. The problem we solve for our clients is simple but important: we save them the time and stress of decorating so they can relax, enjoy their event, and be present with their guests. We take care of everything, from start to finish, so when they walk into the celebration, they’re greeted with a breathtaking setup that instantly makes them happy.
What sets us apart is the fullness and grandeur of our balloon garlands. Our designs are lush, elegant, and meticulously crafted, giving them a “majestic” look that elevates any event. This attention to detail and commitment to quality is what has built our reputation.
I’m most proud of the impact we’ve had on our community over the years. Hearing clients say how excited and joyful they felt when they saw our décor is the greatest reward for me. Our top priority is always our clients’ happiness and satisfaction.
What I want people to know about us is that we are hard-working, humble professionals dedicated to delivering the best customer service and a true “wow factor” in every event we touch. We are celebration, we are joy, and we pour our hearts into making every event unforgettable.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, my goal is besides providing a great customer service to educate myself in all business related, from branding and marketing to sales and finances that way we keep growing and continue offering the best for our clients

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I went through a hidden depression after losing three very close family members within just five months. I had a hard time dealing with the grief, and honestly, I didn’t know if I wanted to continue with life, even though I had my precious daughter at the time. I stopped taking care of myself during that period.
When I had my second baby, my world felt like it was turning upside down, and the stress kept growing. I realized I was either going to let everything I had built—my beautiful family, my dreams—fall apart, or I could choose to keep going and keep fighting. That was the moment I decided to seek help.
Little by little, I learned how to manage my pain and turn it into something meaningful. That’s what you see now in Majestic Balloons KY—years of hard work, determination, and the desire to stand out in the community by offering the very best to our clients. Every installation, every event, is a piece of my heart and a reminder that even in the darkest times, beauty and joy can be created.
