We recently connected with Yakira Sproul and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Yakira thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.
I started off with one client and that one client immediately turned into 10 clients within that same year. The key to scaling is to be consistent. I can’t recall a day where I was not working on Her Aesthetic. Whether if it was promoting my services, doing work for my clients, or going to networking events; I have been putting in work since day one. During that process, I’ve also learned how to create a system that worked best for my business. There was a point when I got tired of doing things manually and not having real structure nor automation. I did tons of research and even spoke with entrepreneurs who are in the same lane as me. It takes a lot of work to scale, but the main thing is to keep going. You can’t grow if you’re not moving.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am from Philadelphia, PA. I graduated from Bloomsburg University with Bachelors in Digital Media. Ever since then, I have been aiming to connect with females who are willing to build their brand and/or take their brand to the next level. I have a passion for music and anything adventurous, so it’s my goal to incorporate that within Her Aesthetic. That’s about it!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I build my reputation by simply being genuine. A lot of women today aren’t what they seem to be in real life compared to online. I am the complete opposite of that. I have a real love of wanting to see women grow and it makes me even happier that I can be the reason for their growth. I love connecting with them as well. I think it’s important to know who you are truly working with. Obviously, it will always be business, but sometimes people want to be heard a little deeper. People love when someone ask about their day or even having someone who can say, “If you ever need anything, let me know.” I will always provide that safeness for my clients and that type of energy is contagious.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
To be completely honest, I was broke in the beginning. I was still in college and had a lot going on. I also did not have a job at the time. So I was taking a big risk, but I formed my LLC. A year later, I applied for a business account and I thought of ways to create multiple streams of income within my business. I thought of ways to get money without spending money. Once that locked in, I began to invest my money and it grew from there.
