We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yahhila Yisrael a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Yahhila thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Deciding to move with faith and take the steps of entrepreneurship was a big step for me. When starting a new business, you never know what the outcome will be. I knew that I wanted to work for myself and make my own schedule. My first taste of entrepreneurship, was when my children were younger, I started a daycare business working from home. Working a regular job or 9-5, was not suitable for me and for the needs of my children. Quitting my job to start a home business was taking a risk because, with any new business it takes time to develop and see income. I was determined to make it. For me, working from home made sense. I was able to see my child after school and they were able to participate in off school ground’s programs..
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Life Wellness Coach and a Real Estate Agent. As a Life & Wellness Practitioner, the tools that I offer are yoga, meditation, reiki, & wellness workshops. I discovered yoga after giving birth to my daughter. Yoga helped to tone my body, and my mind was at ease. Several years later, after a flood caused e to close my daycare, I was able to participate in a Yoga Teacher Training. When I learned what yoga did for me, I knew it was something I would like to teach to others. Besides the physical aspect, my mind felt more calm, I grew more patient, and I was less reactive. I am always looking to enhance my knowledge, to share with others. I am passionate about self-care. I believe everyone should have time for themselves for self-care. I enjoy leading workshops and enjoying engaging with others to share tools that promote wellbeing. When my clients say they do not have time, or their day is too busy for self care, I share with them some mindfulness tools that can be used anywhere at anytime. “Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, repeat to yourself, I am breathing in I am breathing out” do that three times. Just taking that moment to do that is self care. I am proud of what I do. I help people find peace within. Peace is within us, we just have to know how to access it at any moment. I am also a Real Estate Agent. Everything I do, I bring a peaceful feeling. People need calm energy around them. I am that calmness when working with my clients. My clients appreciate my of encouragement and the uplifting vibes that I share with them.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
During my path of self discovery and entrepreneurship, I learned that I have to stay focused, motivated, and disciplined. Of courses there were some doubts and unsure moments of where my business would go. I had to stop listening to those that were unsure of me and my business. Some people did not understand my business and my drive to be a Wellness Practitioner and that’s okay. My drive was my community, to bring self care and mindfulness tools to my community.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I could go back, I would definitely choose the same profession, Life Wellness Coach & Real Estate Agent. I decided to become a Real Estate Agent, because where we live has an affect on our well-being.
