Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to XUAM LAWSON. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, XUAM thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I believe God has allowed me this platform to inspire others by helping to spread the gospel of his son Jesus Christ via my syndicated gospel radio show, my book on Fatherhood, and as a minister. It’s important to me to put God first and allow God to speak to those who will support my cause.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
God began to speak to me during a time I was in my wilderness experience. He sent me to school for Radio Broadcasting, then later I received a job in the industry, and about 7 years after answering my call by God into ministry God later sent me back to school for Pastoral Studies and I got married to the love of my life Rigena Lawson.
Now having been called into ministry, and working as a radio personality, I began to see God doing things with my life I never saw coming. God used me to author my first book #Fatherhood, a 365 page devotional to help fathers communicate the Word of God to their children, my radio show went on to become nationally syndicated on the Rejoice Musical Soulfood Network, and I saw God use me in ministry through our Evangelism Department at my church, Cathedral of Praise COGIC.
Everything I do I try to do unto the Glory of the Lord.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My book #Fatherhood started out as small tweets on Twitter as a way to speak indirectly to my kids about situations and life satiations I saw them facing. My Twitter account was also connected to my Facebook page, so whenever I Tweeted, it would also post to my Facebook page.
Every situation I spoke on was backed up by a scripture and advice, as I posted, many of my friends and family began to like and share the posts so much my kids eventually checked my page everyday to see what I was saying and to try and figure out who I may be talking about.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When it came to my radio show, I started off with no gospel music, because I came from secular radio just before I answered my call into the ministry. Before that time all the music I had was secular. I watched God bring me from not having one gospel song, to being nationally syndicated and doing interviews with music industry legends, industry powerhouses, and turning in my music playlists reports to help influence the gospel music industry.
I’d like to also thank my wife Rigena Lawson for her insight on my book, our children, my mother Rev Hattie Lawson, my dad (now passed) Rev. Dr. Lee A. Lawson, my brother Zaire Lawson, my sisters Yyokkia and Waissa Lawson, Sharon Kay, my church family Cathedral of Praise COGIC, and my Pastor Bishop Jerry. L. Maynard and Dr. Mary T. Maynard.
