We were lucky to catch up with Ximena Zermeño recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ximena, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?

Choosing a creative path for my professional journey has been an incredible blessing. After spending more than a decade as a lawyer, I longed for a significant career change that would allow me to pursue my artistic vision while supporting my dreams and lifestyle.

Eleven years ago, I made the decision to embark on a new path. I delved into the world of photography, specializing in capturing beautiful moments at weddings. This choice seemed like the perfect blend of creativity and a niche that exudes love, romance, and celebration.

My transition into this new chapter was not always easy. It required me to reinvent myself from the confines of a 9-5 job, navigate bureaucratic obstacles, and challenge preconceived notions of what work should entail. However, I embraced the opportunity to manage my own time and build a company rooted in creativity with unwavering discipline and determination.

I firmly believe that my path has unfolded organically. Each step I have taken, whether challenging or effortlessly intuitive, has proven to be the right one. I am continuously learning and approaching every new endeavor with the same excitement and significance as the ones that came before it.

As a wedding photographer, my journey into this industry was driven by a passion for capturing moments of love and celebration. After exploring various career paths, I realized that photography was the perfect medium for me to express my artistic vision and fulfill my creative aspirations. The decision to focus on weddings came naturally to me, as it allowed me to combine my love for photography with the joyous atmosphere and emotions that surround these special occasions.

In terms of the products and services I provide, I specialize in documenting weddings in a unique and personalized way. I work closely with couples to understand their vision, preferences, and individual stories, ensuring that their wedding photos truly reflect their personalities and the essence of their relationship. From candid shots to formal portraits, I strive to capture every precious moment, creating a beautiful narrative that will be cherished for a lifetime.

One of the main problems I solve for my clients is the ability to relive their wedding day through stunning imagery. What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

I would like to upscale my business now globally as a destination wedding photographer. Travel the world sharing and capturing high end luxurious weddings, so at the moment I am manifesting that vision and making it happen.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I share quite a bit about my lifestyle on social media. I believe sm really supports and brings people closer together. I like my clients to like my work, but also that they get a sense of who I am, and even feel identified with me. I believe this is a very important part of what social media is nowadays. People are not only buying services or products but actually connecting with the provider and the story behind.
