We were lucky to catch up with Xavier Walker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Xavier, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
After hearing designers vent their frustrations about other collectives not following through on their promises and only recognizing their brands when Fashion Week season rolls around, I knew something had to change. Designers deserve a platform that truly supports them year-round, not just when the industry’s eyes are on them. That’s why I created the Caribbean Fashion Collective—to give emerging designers, especially those from the Caribbean and beyond, a space where their talent is valued, their voices are heard, and their brands have the opportunity to grow on a global stage.

Xavier, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Xavier Walker, a model, fashion show producer, and the founder of the Caribbean Fashion Collective. My journey into the fashion industry began in Jamaica, where I started as a freelance model before moving to the U.S. and signing with EMG Models. While modeling gave me firsthand experience on the runway, I quickly became fascinated by the production side of fashion—how castings are run, how shows are executed, and the immense effort that goes into bringing a designer’s vision to life. That passion led me to transition into producing fashion shows, managing castings, and coordinating events that highlight emerging talent.
Through Caribbean Fashion Collective (CFC), I provide a platform for designers—especially those from the Caribbean and other underrepresented backgrounds—who need a space to showcase their creativity on a global stage. Many designers have expressed frustrations about collectives that don’t follow through on their promises and only recognize their brands during Fashion Week season. That’s exactly why I founded CFC—to create consistent opportunities beyond seasonal showcases, helping designers grow their brands, expand into new markets, and gain year-round visibility.
What sets me apart is my commitment to inclusivity, authenticity, and long-term support. I don’t just organize shows for the sake of the spectacle—I curate experiences that elevate designers, models, and creatives, ensuring that everyone involved benefits beyond just one event. Whether it’s casting the right talent, producing a seamless show, or connecting designers with industry opportunities, my goal is to bridge the gap between emerging creatives and the wider fashion world.
One of my proudest achievements was producing the Negris Lebrum SS25 show at New York Fashion Week, a major milestone that showcased my ability to execute high-level productions while staying true to my mission.
For anyone looking to work with me, follow my journey, or collaborate, I want them to know that I am passionate about building real opportunities for creatives in the fashion industry. Whether you’re a designer in need of a platform, a model looking for castings, or a brand seeking a fresh, diverse perspective on fashion production, I’m here to make things happen in a way that is meaningful, professional, and forward-thinking.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I first met Stewella Daville at a fashion show where she was working as the model coordinator. Honestly, at first, I couldn’t stand a bone in her body—she had this strong presence, and we definitely didn’t click right away. But then, I found out she was half Jamaican, and that gave me just enough reason to take it upon myself to say hi and spark a conversation.
From that small interaction, we gradually started hanging out more, working on different projects together, and after almost a year of spending time around each other, we became closer and closer. Over time, we realized we worked well as a team—and that foundation of friendship and respect led us to where we are today as co-founders of Caribbean Fashion Collective. It’s funny how things turn out sometimes!
As it relates to I first met Norka Vasquez at a fashion show at a church, where I was helping the female models with their walk. While I was doing my thing, Norka noticed and walked over to ask for a little assistance. I helped her out, and we didn’t talk much at that moment, but after the show, she offered me a ride home—and let’s be real, I wasn’t about to turn down a free ride!
That car ride ended up being the start of something solid. We had a good conversation, got to know each other a little better, and from there, we started hanging out more and more. Over time, we built a strong connection, and that led to us becoming close friends and eventually co-founding Caribbean Fashion Collective together. Funny how a random moment can turn into something major!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Moving to the US and starting my modeling career has been incredibly rewarding. EMG Models gave me the opportunity not just as a model, but also as a booker, allowing me to grow on both sides of the industry. Additionally, having the trust of Negris Lebrum as his show producer for over four years has been an honor. These experiences have shaped my journey and continue to fuel my passion for the fashion industry.
