Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Xavier Hicks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Xavier, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I ever worked on was my second album “The Xperience”. While working on this project, I wanted my supporters to see what I was capable of doing. From the music to the lyrics I wanted to both give the people an experience while at the same time expressing my experiences in life. Fun fact: during the making of the album the A.C. in my studio went out so it was hot for a good month but I didn’t stop. So you can say I put blood, literal sweat, and tears into this project and I am most proud of it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Tx. I grew up in a Juke Joint environment where both old and new music were being played. I’ve been a performing artist since I was about 7. I started recording and learning music production at 14. My sound is R&B/Pop/HipHop/Soul. What sets me apart from others is my ability to go above and beyond with my art. Most artist only do the minimum, but I believe if you are as serious as you say, you will take risks. I am most proud of the performances and shows I’ve put on in the last 2 years and I want all of supporters and future supporters to know that, it’s gonna get better each time.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Society need to pay attention to the art and the message. Everything now is not as authentic like it use to be, so we lose the essence of what art really means. Society has the power to decide what’s art and what’s not but somewhere we’ve let social media, other media outlets, and others outside of that decide for us. If we pay attention more, we can get back to that essence.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect for being an artist is the feedback. I’ve gotten comments like “you were my favorite performer out of the night”, “That’s a real artist”, “He’s killing it!”. Those comments keeps getting better each time.
