We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Xavier Caffee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Xavier below.
Xavier, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I get asked this question a lot. When I first started reselling shoes I went under the name Elite Sneaks. At this time I was working for shoe store. No shoe stores allow their employees to resell because it is against company policy. One of my co-mangers at the time reported me for reselling and I had to lay low. Eventually this led me to rebrand and come up with the name Soles Anonymous because I had to continue reselling but stay anonymous until it was time for me to reveal my identity.
Xavier, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started reselling shoes about 3 years ago. I have always had a passion for sneaker as a kid and dreamed of one day having some of the most exclusive sneakers in the world. This passion for sneaker world led me to take things more serious and become a reseller. My products consists of Jordan’s, Nike, Yeezy, Off-white, and etc. I help customer avoid having to enter raffles, camp out, stand in lines and much more by providing them with sneakers they want.
I am set apart from others because I stay in my line and focus on myself and what I can control and not worry about what others are doing. I am most proud of the fact that I was able to get my business to a point where I was able to quit my job almost 2 years ago.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Do you need capital to start a business? The answer is yes, but for me I did not have any capital. I started by taking a shoe of my own and selling it on eBay. The money I made off selling that one shoe, I used to to by another pair and sell. Repeating that process allowed me to build capital over time and buy more product to sell to my customers.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building a social media audience came with being consistent with product and gaining trust from customers. Business best spreads by word of mouth. Once I gained that trust in customers it allowed me to gain a better audience from them referring me to more people.
