Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Xavier Beloved. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Xavier, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
iiiNTELLEKTualz Entertainment is a mixed media company that thrives on the basis that our projects will transcend social constructs. We are willing to view any idea introduced to us and as a group we debate over the topics and issues presented to determine the pros and cons of tackling said issue. Inclusiveness is always described as something that is so elusive when truly it isn’t, coming from other companies where only a select few were able to voice their opinion without fear of repercussion or degradation by “peers” with a mask of “constructive criticism” I strive for everyone here to feel seen and heard for no one to feel like their project is to big and adventurous or small and insignificant. Many moments include someone receiving praise for introducing an idea, even if it doesn’t agree with the majority of the room because it challenges us to step out and view the world from the entire room not just the boss’ mission. The world is made up of over 8 Billion stories and we like to do our best to represent as many as possible.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
iiiNTELLEKTualz Entertainment is a mixed media company. What does that mean exactly? It means we work in every medium, every genre, and our audience is everyone. I know a very big generalization to blanket the market so that way they can… yada yada yada… OK TRUE it is a big blanket statement but that because we plan to be the world’s “large blanket” a hub for Art and its creators and a place where consumers feel, seen and heard with entertainment they actually want. Now that I’ve given you the big goal, lets talk beginnings, iiiNTELLEKTualz was created to solve a hole i felt like was missing in entertainment people want original ideas. They want something new, complex and different from everything else just like them. How do you give that to them? Well first be willing to listen. We research so many genres, sub genres, mediums, sub mediums and their tropes and we find a way to not only give them a new look but also turn them on their heads and spin for good measure. As an artist many try to put you in a box so they can categorize you and we want to shake all those boxes out and let the people mingle the same way the world does. We understand the risks of confrontation and how it can make things uncomfortable and welcome anyone who views our content to challenge whats presented to spark intellectual conversation.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I feel is also very much a cornerstone to why I decided to create my company is that “You dont have all the answers, You’ll never know everything, and you can always learn something.” I know very cliche in thought but in application is where I’ve found my most trouble with this. I struggled asking for help, truly sometimes still do but whenever i have actually taken the time to stop, reassess my situation, and ask others for a fresh pair of eyes, some perspective I’ve made my biggest strides and had some of my most fulfilling successes. I thank others for the things they’ve taught me often, no human is meant to be alone we were all placed here to Coexist might as well enjoy its best parts
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When you work in entertainment or the arts in general you come to a place where you discuss wether or not your going to be rich and famous and compromise your morals for convenience or else starve… I had to pivot from the thought of you can only be one or the other. Either your the star or your insignificant was a very hard way to view any career in the beginning but especially entertainment. It had me pandering to any audience that was willing to have me on their stage, that desperation was seen, and very much so taken advantage of. In some of my “darker days” of doing uber I met a man who produced a 3 hr youtube show based behind popular board games. I had never heard of him, his channel, or had any interest in the games but as we continued conversation he said something that stuck with me “follow your dreams, do what you want, someone will pay you to be you” That’s when the shift happened I don’t have to make what i think people want, I make what I want, and my community will find me. I dont have to give up what I love or hide parts of me that I think wont sell. Know your worth, sell yourself, and believe in what your doing.
