We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Xavier Allen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Xavier, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Any advice for creating a more inclusive workplace?
If you’re a CEO and want to make an inclusive workplace it’s vital to read books on how to talk and respond to people. One of my favorite reads that has helped me is titled “Influence, New and Expanded”. It’s also vital that you have self awareness and emotional intelligence to motivate your team even when there may be obstacles. Some moments that shape my view on creating a inclusive workplace is when some of my team members express to me their situations in life and how much the job I produce for them has helped them stay motivated to carry on. I’ve had multiple staff members message me randomly just thanking me for being not only a great leader but a person they can lean on when they need it. I feel it is necessary to make sure my team is mentally and emotionally functional to complete tasks and be efficient. So, that’s why I try my best to have patience with them, understanding and lead them instead of bossing them around. Bringing out the best in people can bring out the best in you as well.
Xavier, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an owner of a six figure digital marketing agency that is rapidly growing. We currently work with assisted living homes by using online marketing channels to generate them qualified leads. We have also became a prominent agency in the music industry and have worked with a variety of well known artists to smaller artists as well. We are mostly proud for having the pillar that helps business owners generate more leads without having to stress or be overly concerned on where their next client will be coming from. The services we produce to make all of that happen are Media Buying/PPC Advertising, Email and SMS Marketing, SEO, Appointment Setting, Social Media Management, Landing Page Optimization and Copywriting.
Have you ever had to pivot?
We used to work in the music space and became one of the most sought out agencies for record labels to use. The problem was it wasn’t a consistent thing no matter how big the label or artist. So we shifted gears into marketing assisted living because we felt the need to help a business that helps people.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
This agency was scaled from bare bones and sweat equity. We have never taken any loans, credit cards, or large sums of cash to get the ball rolling for us. It was all through networking and delivering results.
