We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wynesia Jackson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wynesia below.
Wynesia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Yes, my parents have had a meaningful impact on my journey. My parents have impacted me by simply letting me pursue my dreams. Sometimes, parents have a dream for their children and force it on to them. My parents just wanted me to fulfill God’s purpose and they were open to whatever that might be. They may not have understood the passion or call but they never discouraged me. Whatever they had, they offered so that I could accomplish my goals. They have not always had a lot financially but whatever they had, they offered to me and my siblings. In college, they transported me back and forth for various breaks and sent money when they could.
When I decided to study abroad in other countries, they did not discourage me because it was a new concept to them. They simply listened to what I needed to make it happen and were there when I needed encouragement.
When I decided to go to seminary, they allowed me to stay in their home rent free so that my expenses could be low.
These actions may sound like what a parent should do but I know of so many parents did not, so I am so grateful.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Wynesia Jackson and I own Christlike Life Ministries. Our mission is to help believers connect the dots of their faith so they can live Christlike lives with intention, wisdom and joy. I provide the following services: Spiritual development coaching (one on one and group), ministry development consulting and training, and written and video resources (YouTube channel, Refueling Your Faith). I completed seminary in 2005, receiving my Masters of Divinity Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I have been helping individuals connect and grow their relationship with God for over 20 years including serving full time at a church for over 10 years. Through these experiences, I have developed insights that are helpful for individuals and church organizations to grow more effectively and efficiently. My passion, energy, and knowledge for the spiritual growth of individuals and ministry leadership and structure have proven to ignite the flame of stagnant purpose birthed through frustration and uncertainty. A great deal of my work marries increased knowledge and personal reflection which helps individuals celebrate what they already know and get excited about gaining new knowledge and experiences. After workshops and personal sessions, participants often report feeling refreshed and energized for the NEXT in personal growth or ministry development. After a free consultation, sessions and workshops are customized to meet the needs of the individual or organization.
Currently, I am most proud of my 1st book, self-published in 2021. It’s called Refueling Your Faith: Daily Encouragement for a Spirit-filled Life and can be purchased on Amazon and other online bookstores. It a six week devotional about the fruit of the Spirit. Ultimately, it helps readers reflect on how the character traits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self -control are demonstrated in the world and gives them encouragement and tools to display these characteristics in their context.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for me has been word of mouth. Providing stellar service to one client will encourage them to recommend you to their colleagues. As a former employer used to tell me, “You are always auditioning! Always present your best work ! You never know who is watching.”

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
I often times struggle selling my book when I am in a space that is not geared toward authors or selling books. I don’t want to come off as disingenuous, like I’m there to sell my book instead of the original purpose. One day, I went to a funeral and happened to share that I had written a book with one of the attendees. When she asked to purchase a book, it started a title wave of others who saw me making the transaction and asked what I was doing. By the end of the evening, I had sold all the books in my trunk and shared how others could purchase it online. Moral of the story: Open your mouth when appropriate. As the saying goes, “A closed mouth won’t get feed.” Also, always keep product in your trunk :-).
