Wycovia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
The first dollar that your business earns is not only a milestone but it is also an unforgettable moment. The day that I received my first client that wasn’t a friend/family member/friend of a friend was when I was out running some errands. When arriving back to my car i checked my phone to see if i had any messages, emails, etc. Surprisingly there was a notification saying that someone had purchased something from my online boutique “The Klass Act Co”. Long story short…. I turned up the music in my car and had a party all by myself. The risk is definitely worth the reward, and patience is also the key when owning a business.

I’m just a small town girl who had big dreams…. and I was determined to accomplish all of my goals. I’ve been in accounting for 7 years now. I’m passionate about helping others learn the importance of financial literacy. One of my other passions is fashion. I’m fully aware that accountants get labeled as “boring or plain-jane” lol…. but not this accountant …#accountantshavestyletoo. What most people may not know is that I also serve as a professional buyer for private clients offering wardrobe and styling services/recommendations. If a client wants certain attire for an occasion I provide the client with my findings. What i’m most proud of is the resilience that we (The Klass Act Co) have maintained during times of adversity. Owning a business such as a boutique is not easy, but what successes in life are easy?
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients have been from the good ole fashion way…. “word of mouth.” I’ve had clients tell me that they were referred to my by people that they knew. I’ve also had clients see some of the pieces that I offer and inquired about where can they get that particular article of clothing. There has been numerous time that I have been out and people have expressed that they loved my outfit and they ask for the information on where they can purchase as well. Fashion is fun, fashion is expressive.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What I’ve found that helped build my reputation within the market is “JUST BEING ME.” Even though I’m an introvert, I still enjoy going to social events and meeting new people, developing a rapport with people that are like minded and encouraging each other’s to reach their goals and aspirations. My late great-grandmother “Nana” once told me “One thing i want you to always remember… in life your personality will take you a long way.” I told her that I would never forget. I still hear her say those words as if she told me yesterday.
