We recently connected with Wy Mac and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Wy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Earning a full-time living from my creative work has been a journey—definitely not something that happened overnight. It took time, trial and error, and a lot of perseverance to get where I am today.
When I first started, I was fresh out of cosmetology school, working for companies like Drybar and juggling my passion projects on the side. I was performing whenever and wherever I could—like being on *Ireland’s Got Talent* and singing at NFL events in Las Vegas. Those experiences were pivotal, but they didn’t pay my bills – in fact they didn’t pay at all!
The real turning point came when I decided to focus on building my personal brand. I leaned into what made me unique: my love for Vegas, Disney, and creating content that’s fun and relatable. I started treating social media not just as a hobby but as a business. I invested in learning how to create content that resonates, building partnerships with brands, and developing skills like video editing and storytelling.
Milestones like landing collaborations with brands I admire and performing the national anthem at major events helped solidify my place as a full-time creative. Each opportunity built on the last, and I learned to say “yes” to the right ones while staying true to my voice.
Looking back, I wish I had understood sooner how important consistency is—whether that’s showing up online, networking, or pitching myself for opportunities. I don’t think my journey could have been sped up. In fact, I think it’s going exactly the way it was written.
The journey is ongoing, but I’m grateful for every step. It’s proof that with patience and persistence, you can turn your passion into a full-time career. ✨
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been in the content creation space for over 10 years. It started with a love for storytelling and sharing my experiences in ways that resonated with people. Over time, that passion grew into a career where I create lifestyle and travel content, write songs, and help others navigate the world of social media to build their own success.
At this point in my career, I feel it’s time to pass on the knowledge I’ve gained to the next wave of influencers and content creators. I help people monetize their platforms, work with brands, and create digital products to generate wealth. What sets me apart is my hands-on experience—I’ve done this myself for over a decade and have helped countless creators achieve their goals. I also bring a unique perspective as someone deeply connected to Las Vegas, showcasing both on- and off-strip experiences, which adds a local flavor to my content.
I help simplify the overwhelming process of content creation and monetization. Many people don’t know where to start, how to grow their audience, or how to make money online. I break it down into actionable steps, whether it’s working with brands, creating engaging content, or developing digital products that sell.
I’m incredibly proud of the community I’ve built and the lives I’ve impacted. Whether it’s through my content or helping others escape the 9-to-5 grind to build their dream lives, it’s rewarding to see people thrive with the tools I’ve shared.
I want people to know I’m all about empowerment and making success achievable. Whether it’s through my mentorships, courses, or social media insights, my goal is to help others realize their potential and create the life they’ve always wanted. I truly believe anyone can do this with the right guidance, and that’s what I’m here for.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
One resource I wish I had explored sooner is AI technology. I know it can feel intimidating or even scary to a lot of people, but that fear often comes from not fully understanding its potential. Once you take the time to learn how to use AI properly, it becomes an invaluable tool in your creative process.
For me, AI has streamlined so much—whether it’s brainstorming content ideas, analyzing trends, or even automating some of the more time-consuming tasks like editing or writing outlines. It’s not about replacing creativity but enhancing it. AI allows me to focus on the parts of my work that require my personal touch while letting technology handle the repetitive or technical aspects.
I truly believe that embracing AI is a game-changer for any creator or business owner. The key is to see it as a collaborator, not a competitor. If I had started leveraging AI earlier, I think I could’ve scaled my work and saved so much time. It’s a resource I recommend to anyone who’s looking to take their business to the next level.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media has been a journey of consistency and staying true to myself. I’ve always believed that the key to lasting success is authenticity. You can try to be a copy of someone else, but those followers won’t stick around if you’re not showing who you really are. What’s worked for me is leaning into what makes me unique—whether it’s showcasing hidden gems in Las Vegas, sharing my songwriting process, or helping others grow their social media and monetize their platforms.
For anyone just starting out, my biggest piece of advice is to focus on consistency and connection. Show up regularly, even when it feels like no one is watching, and create content that feels true to you. Don’t be afraid to share your story or your quirks—people connect with realness, not perfection.
Also, remember that it’s not just about gaining followers; it’s about finding your people. Those who resonate with your vibe, your message, and your content. When you focus on building genuine relationships and providing value, your audience will grow naturally.
Lastly, don’t overlook the importance of strategy. Understand your audience, lean into what they respond to, and don’t be afraid to experiment. Social media is always evolving, so stay adaptable while staying true to yourself.
