We were lucky to catch up with Wisdom Walker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Wisdom, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
So I previously worked in retail , where I met all types of people. I helped many customers find the perfect attire for their occasion; however this one was different. It was an older woman, I believe I was about 20 years of age at the time, who needed some guidance on what to wear for her event . Right off the bat she told me our store was a little to “young” for her taste , but she just kept on talking . She told me I gave off a different type of energy and she knew I was destined to be something greater than a sales associate. I began telling her about my art , which was acrylic paintings back then , and she showed such interest. Of course painting was an emotional escape for me but she wanted me to know I should share it with the world . She then reached in her purse and handed me the 1st dollar to my business she manifested . I cried of course because that’s who I am lol and she gave me a hug . She saw something in me I didn’t quite see in myself , but best believe Ive carried that dollar with me every step of the way . It is a constant reminder that there is more to come , and she did that for me !

Wisdom, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I utilize epoxy resin to express and evoke emotional response using crystals and various pigments. As the artist I find countless measures to employ Colour as an universal language of positivity and growth. The art itself is emotionally charged through authentic elements from the earth to ensure its grounding in energy. As I adapt and develop on my journey as an artist, so do the canvasses I express on from floors to glasses, trays, keychains, countertops, canvases, wood, glass, and even mirrors.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Many years ago I learned let your business pay for your business. I think this clouded my judges early on because it wasn’t making enough to support itself . Instead I had to come up when a side hustle to pay for my side hustle lol . That’s advice is definitely not meant for a striving artist . I mean do you know how much art suppl

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
So I made my first few sales right before the pandemic. This was the first time I was making art not only for myself but for others and I was on top of the world. Once they put in the stay at home order and everyone scared to come outside I couldn’t figure out how I could keep possibly making sales especially knowing how bad I am with social media. For a little while I can’t lie I just sat around I was depressed about it until I realized maybe that was God giving me time to really perfect my craft and be nothing to play with when the pandemic was over. It gave me so much time to just sit and ideas and play around with colors and learn about other crystals in enjoy what I was doing without the stress. So as they say when life gives you lemons make lemonade!
