We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Wisdom Edioma a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Wisdom thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Investing in people has proven to be one of the most valuable choices we’ve made. When you have the right team—individuals who not only have the skills but also share the same passion and vision—the creative process transforms. It’s no longer just about one person trying to push their ideas forward; it becomes a collaborative effort where everyone is aligned. This makes everything smoother, from brainstorming to execution.
For example, let’s say we’re planning a significant event. When the team is in sync, decision-making happens quickly and organically. Everyone understands our direction, so there’s no need for lengthy discussions or debates about every little detail. Instead, we can focus on refining the bigger picture, pushing boundaries, and exploring new ideas without getting bogged down by disagreements.
On top of that, investing in emerging talent has been another key focus. When we discover a new artist, especially someone with immense potential and a unique perspective, we allow them to explore their creativity without being restricted by traditional expectations. This often results in fresh, exciting work that stands out. One recent example is when we signed a young artist who wasn’t afraid to experiment with unconventional styles. We allowed them to run with their ideas, and the result was a project that exceeded our expectations and resonated strongly with the audience.
Ultimately, whether it’s building a cohesive team or nurturing new talent, investing in people drives innovation and success.

Wisdom, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born in Nigeria, a country rich in cultural heritage and the birthplace of Afrobeat, a genre that has influenced music worldwide. Nigeria is often called the “Giant of Africa” because of its population and vibrant culture. Growing up there, I experienced the energy and diversity of the people, some of the most passionate and creative individuals you’ll ever meet. It’s a place where music, art, and storytelling are woven into everyday life.
When I was young, my family moved to the United States, and I grew up between Newark, New Jersey, and Brooklyn, New York. Those two cities are vibrant in their own right—full of hustle, diversity, and creativity. Newark has a deep connection to art and jazz, while Brooklyn is known for its unique blend of cultures and being at the heart of hip-hop and street fashion. Living in those places shaped my view of the world, gave me an appreciation for the intersection of cultures, and made me realize the power of music, art, and community.
About two years ago, I relocated to Austin, Texas. The city is known for its live music scene and creative energy, but I noticed something missing—an accurate representation of the cultures I grew up with. That’s why I started Westborn Collectives, an innovative organization designed to bring joy and foster connection through music, art, and fashion. The idea is to create a space where people from all walks of life can unite, network, and express themselves while celebrating culture.
One example of what we do at Westborn Collectives is our signature event, “SYNC.” It’s an immersive experience where we blend live performances with local artists showcasing their work and fashion designers presenting unique streetwear. It’s not just a party; it’s a cultural exchange. At these events, you’ll find people from different backgrounds sharing ideas, collaborating, and celebrating their talents. We’ve seen artists get discovered, entrepreneurs find new clients, and people connect well with others. Through these events, we’re entertaining and creating opportunities for creatives to network and thrive.
By doing this, I aim to bridge the cultural gap in the Austin metro area. It’s about building something sustainable that brings people joy, connects cultures, and gives a platform to emerging artists.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being creative is bringing what’s in my mind into the real world; creating something from a thought or feeling is incredibly fulfilling. Creativity also lets me express different parts of myself. Additionally, it provides me with a Venue to connect with other creatives. Whether sharing my work or collaborating on a project, being around people who think and create similarly leads to growth.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My Mission is all about growth and opportunity—both for myself and the artists you want to support. It’s about providing artists who may not have a lot of exposure or resources with the space to share their work and develop their craft on a global scale.
