We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wintana Kiros. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wintana below.
Wintana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
My turning point came when I decided to leave hospital care and start my own practice. I was tired of only offering reactive treatments and wanted to focus on preventive care. Seeing young people suffer from strokes and serious illnesses that could have been prevented deeply affected me. Driven by the desire to make a real difference, I started my own venture to help people take charge of their health and prevent potential health crises.
Wintana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am originally from east african Ethiopia, I am a wife and mother of 2 boys. I am a registered dietitian, health coach and stylist. I have combined my skills, training and hobby into virtual private practice- called Reset lifestyle.
My team and I help busy women in all seasons of life get to the root of their wellness challenges and automate healthy habits into their overwhelmed and out of control lifestyle. What sets us apart is our philosophy. We believe diet and exercise are only 33% of the solution to your wellness. It is more important to be aware that your habits around sleep, stress, emotions and environment directly impact what you eat, when you eat and how well you move your body.
After more than a decade of clinical work at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and long-term care facilities I realized the missing piece. Patients need more than healthy eating tips; they need a lifestyle overhaul. Eating habits, stress management, sleep hygiene, emotional awareness, and environment all played a major part of why patients found themselves sitting in front of me. I aimed to address all these concerns with Reset Lifestyle.
I offer virtual services combining my background in medical nutrition therapy and behavioral change coaching with experience in the fashion industry to help clients build the confidence to take the first steps to become healthier. I believe habits are what can afford us true well-being, and will allow us to feel good, look good, and do good for our family, friends, and community. The vision of Reset Lifestyle is to help individuals GAIN their whole health rather than focusing on weight LOSS.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The most valuable lesson I’ve gleaned from my business journey is the importance of taking action by starting. I had to unlearn the tendency to wait for the perfect moment, realizing that perfection is elusive. Instead, I discovered that initiating and launching my project, imperfect as it may be, was paramount. I embraced the idea of refining and iterating as I progressed, recognizing that momentum and adaptability are key drivers of success.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
My most successful approach to expanding my clientele has been through the power of word of mouth. The trust my clients place in me is evident through their enthusiastic referrals to friends and family. Additionally, forging strong relationships with medical professionals and practices has been instrumental in receiving patient referrals. Notably, I’ve achieved this without relying on paid advertising, as genuine recommendations and professional connections have proven to be the most effective drivers of growth.
