We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Winston Mayo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Winston thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

Our mission at Glory House Studios is to glorify Jesus Christ through movies, music, and media being a light to fight the darkness. We make non-Christian Christian films which means stories outside of the Bible. We want to add beauty and light into the world so all of our natural material is G and PG for all the family of all ages to enjoy so no cursing, sex scenes, graphic violence, etc. We want to bring beauty, light, fun, laughter, and joy back into entertainment. Lastly we’re evangelistic in nature so we make sure the quality of our material for both non-Christian’s and Christians to watch together. And that’s also how our business is run with a service side to help our non Christian clients and our entertainment side for our faith based material.

Winston, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am Winston Mayo. I receive my Writing Degree from Ithaca College in 2015 and I wrote 2 books. In short, my failed attempt at being a bestselling author brought me into the marketing industry through freelancing. I’ve touched everything from graphic design, SEO, video editing, copywriting, and everything in between. Now at Glory House Studios we work as both an agency and production house. Our clients come to us everything marketing and video. So we make commercials, movies, trailers, marketing campaigns and more. Then that allows us to make original content through movies and social media.
We want readers and clients to know that when they work with us that you’re receiving excellent work because we’re Christian and we work for God. We’re first movers so we’re one of the leaders in the space. Lastly we will be the breast studio in the world by God’s grace.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

Honestly I scaled up through prayer. I never prayed to Jesus before about Him bringing me clients or the amount of money I wanted to make. So Charles Spurgeon said prayers don’t get answers because they are vague and not specific so I did what the Bible says in Matthew 6&7. I asked, seeked, and knocked and my Father that sees severely rewards me openly because I was always a tither but I have struggles praying consistently. Also I get alot of work from LinkedIn because it’s the largest social media platform with the most exchange of money between professionals so I stop going for small clients. Also there’s a book called “Show Your Work” which said basically do all your work in public and post everyday. So everything I’d usually delete or through away I let SEO and the algorithm see the light of day no matter what. Because I used to be a broke perfectionist but I stopped that and I’m fine with 80% and up. So God allows people to find my stuff and I just apply and contact doing outreach with warm leads or people showing interest.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

After college I went broke twice and had to move back in with my parents twice: 1 time because I joined a cult on accident;2nd because I moved to Colombia to find a wife and start a business. And both situations got solved the same way: praying on my knees to Jesus.
I got out of the cult broke and owing 20,000 dollars in rent and I read psalm 34 as I prayed for God to help. A man from the company called and it was a Latino guy named Jesus and he said they will forgive all the money I owed and pay me 5,000 dollars to move out.
Next I was in Colombia for 4 months when I was only supposed to stay for 1. My clients stopped and I ran out of money and read every Bible verse on money from Charles Surgeon and George Muller. They said to pray, give money to the spreading of the gospel through missions, donate to organs and widows and the poor. So I did that and went back home to the USA.. My business has abounded every month thanks to the Holy Spirit.
