We were lucky to catch up with Wilmar Saint Preux recently and have shared our conversation below.
Wilmar, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
What I think it takes to become successful is being able to acknowledge your weakness and work though them regarldess while never quitting and always having the willingness and drive to learn what you don’t know in order to achieve the success.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Wilmar Saint Preux, a Haitian and Bahamian Florida native. I am the owner and primary operator of UAV Miami LLC a local drone company that does B2B or B2C drone services such as aerial photography, drone thermal and visual inspections, drone mapping and and soon to be farming data capture and processing. The problem I solve for clients is providing them with additional aerial data to make informed decision in their perspective industries. Our human eyes can only perceive so much yet we make life altering decision based off of what we see, the data i provide serves as a second point of reference and a different perspective that you can not get with your human eyes so clients can make more informed decision about your business. The thing I am most proud of is that i built this company myself and learned as I went, which is what I believe it takes to be successful in any endeavor.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Well growing up in poverty was not easy. My father died when i was only 10 years old, leaving my mother alone with 5 kids to raise. My mother took a leap of faith and worked her butt off to bring herself and 5 kids to America for a new life and shortly after, passed away when i was 16 years old. Then I entered the foster care system, just briefly since I was already 17 years old at this point and you are in the system until about 18. I was fortunate to go to college for free due to this where i studied culinary arts. Me as a adolescent young boy with no parental guidance had to navigate life on my own with only the will to “take care of my sisters” which was the last thing my parents told me. I did everything i could to be a provider for them, which eventually lead me to a life of white collar crime in fraud. I didn’t care about the consequence tho, as long as I can have money to take care of them, i was willing to do sabotage my life in order to do so. Eventually after all the arrest and ups and downs the fast life brings, I came to realization that if i want to protect and provide for my family, i needed real strength, not the f*ke stolen lifestyle that comes from stealing and a fast life and then i decided to use my brain, since i always been fairly smart, to build myself up and make money using my own two hands. Which leads me where I am at today. Its not easy at all, but I am not going to give up.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
To fund my business i had money just sitting around from my “fast lifestyle” we will call it and instead of spending it on foolishness which is what i use to do, i held onto it for when i wanted to start a business. That money is long gone now but I am grateful, sort of, to myself for thinking ahead since the path i have chosen to take was an expensive one, It still has more cost but I was able to break into it at least with that initial boost.
