Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
My upbringing equipped me with a strong sense of morality and integrity, thanks to my parents. They instilled in me a solid understanding of right and wrong, along with a resilient attitude instilled by my father, which taught me that perseverance knows no bounds. These values have guided me as a business owner, shaping my approach to treating others with respect and leading with fairness and kindness.

I’m William Wilson, the founder of William Wilson Homes, LLC, a real estate company based in Nashville, TN. My journey in real estate started in 2014 under the mentorship of Corey Hammonds. We cater to the Middle Tennessee community, offering services in residential and commercial real estate, credit repair, consulting, and property management. Our ethos revolves around prioritizing people and continuous education to enhance our client service. With steady growth each year, I eagerly anticipate not only our future but also the positive impact we’ll have on our city.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
In 2014, I entered the real estate arena, commencing mentorship under Corey Hammonds in 2016. By 2018, I initiated my own company, securing my broker’s license in 2020 and formally launching my firm in 2022. Simultaneously, I balanced a 9-5 corporate role until 2021, all while cultivating my real estate career and gradually transitioning away from corporate life.
Recognizing the financial challenges inherent in real estate, I advocate for my agents to establish additional income streams, as the primary reason for industry attrition is financial strain.
Setting both short and long-term objectives, I persevered in the corporate sector until I could seamlessly transition into full-time entrepreneurship.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most efficient approach to building a business and expanding one’s client base involves four key elements: self-sufficiency, accountability, education, and consistency.
Embracing self-sufficiency and seeking solutions independently has played a pivotal role in my success journey. By avoiding reliance on handouts or external aid, I’ve cultivated a strong sense of self-reliance, leading to a mindset of taking full accountability for my actions and results.
Furthermore, maintaining a relentless pursuit of knowledge and continuously educating myself on all aspects of real estate has honed my skills, positioning me as a valuable asset for my clients.
Lastly, consistent brand marketing efforts coupled with a genuine passion for helping others have significantly contributed to our achievements.
