We recently connected with William Turner and have shared our conversation below.
William, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
It has always been my life’s purpose to be of service to others and my community.
My journey towards becoming a fitness trainer and wellness coach began over 30 years ago at Golds gym in upstate New York. I then went on to be one of Equinox Fitness Master trainers and Dallas Voice 2021 and 2022 trainer of the year.
The catalyst that propelled me forward was when I decided to also become a teacher. As I worked to try to do both, I became overwhelmed with working as a teacher of which the occupations has driven many teachers to leave the occupation. I don’t blame them.
As the years passed I grew to intensley hate teaching more and more. I perpetually felt overwhelmed, frustrated and trapped because the occupation impeaded upon my availability to my cliets, family, friends, community and that which I love most of all.
Although I received a steady paycheck as a teacher , I saw no other compelling reason to stay in the field of teaching. It was not rewarding to me otherwise at all. I was completely burnt out and unfulfilled. As the years progressed I became overwhelmingly anxious and chronically depressed.
After being hospitalized on three occasion from physical, mental and emotional exhuastion I had to do something. I was not my cheerful, happy, out going self. My life had become taken over by my students, the unrealistic expectations and micromanagement of admistration, the district and parents. I never want to attend another PLC meeting or see another lesson plan in my life!
Enough was enough! I had to take back my life. I had to find a way to reclaim my health and happiness to help others in a more intrinsicly rewarding and meaningful way which did not require me to give my soul to those who clearly did not value my time and dedication.
It was long over due for me to make a shift. Sharing my story and experience as a wellness coach and fitness trainer was most important.
Over the course of the past ten years while teaching I having been working towards the goal of growing a brand in wellness coaching and fitness training to help those whose lives are impacted by depression and anxiety.
In short, this will be my last year of teaching as I continue on my journey towards growing the Living Well With WiL brand and helping people all around the world live the healthy and happy lives they desire and deserve.
William, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The difference between me and those in the fitness, health and wellness industry is simple.
I dont promote fad diets or offer my clients false hope. I offer them the tangibility to a variety of healthy solutions and support resources needed to take better care of themselve in mind, body, and spirit.
While over the course of my many years training the broad demographic of my clients, I discovered that the common goal between each of my client’s was their struggle with taking better care of themselves.
Like myself they all felt physically and emotional overwhelmed, stressed, depressed, and at a crossroad in some faction of their lives. Each sought a new direction in life. There is an inter connectedness between the mind, body and spirit which are evidently over looked by many in the industry.
It is not only my goal to build stronger bodies but also healthy relationships and communities through fitness, health, and wellness. Thus Living Well with WIL and the Living from Within blog, podcast, video channel, recipe book, fitness, health and wellness program have been nurtured.
As the Living Well with WiL brand grows, I am determined to stay the course of my journey towards health and happines by helping those who read this article, my clients and those around the world do the same.
I am proud to know that my professional expertise and personal experience is being affirmed and valued by the media, my clients and social media followers.
My goal is to help busy professionals, men and women in their 40s and 50s take better care of themselves in mind, body, and spirit by showing them how and providing them with a variety of solutions to do that by either subscribing to my blog, podcast, video channel or services in fitness training and wellness coaching at livingwellwithwil.com or readers and subscribers can connect with me on Instagram @livingwellwithwil..
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In short my compassion. tenacity and ressilience comes from growing up without parrents, being raised by my amazing sisters, having the support and love of my amazing besties who faithfully show up for me when I need them mostt and me sharing the testimony my personal struggle to overcome depression by talking care of myself and surrounding myself by those who equally pour into me.
I don’t want to bore everyone. LoL
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I absolutely would! If only I new then what I know now, I would be way fitter and richer. LoL
