We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful William Taylor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with William below.
Hi William, thanks for joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
Well I started the brand taylormade and went thru the step to getting it trademarked. I processed all the paperwork and started selling clothes. A year later after having an amazing year papoose showcased one of the sweatsuit on love and hip hop. 3 weeks later I received a seized to assist letter stating I have to stop using the taylormade logo. I had 90 days to seize it or I was going to be sued. I looked over it with my lawyer and he told me it would be best to let it go and change the name. Fast forward I changed the name to Taylored Lifestyle and it’s been history since.

William, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is William Taylor and I’m the CEO of Taylored Lifestyle Clothing. I had 3 brain surgeries and came out of it by the grace of god. At that point I told myself I’m going to live my life to the fullest extent because life is short. That was in 2018 when that happened. In 2019 I was working for T-Mobile realizing this is not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I still didn’t know what I wanted to do. One thing I did know is I loved sweatsuits. Nike tech suit to be exact, and I had many colors. One day I walked in a store on 28th street in New York and seen the same sweatsuit on the wall for $35 and at that point I realized it’s time to start my business. At that point I started a sweatsuit business which eventually expanded out. For my customer I provided a service to that a lot of brands don’t. #1 affordable prices
#2 payment options
#3 quality
#4 legendary customer service
#5 help people to start there on business.
What I want the people to know about me is I came from nothing and I want them to know if I can make something out of myself you can as well. If they need help with anything I’m available to talk and give advice and wisdom. Just want the people to know I’m here for them.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
When I first started my business I was doing it myself. For 6 months I was using the cricut machine. I realized that sitting in the house cutting vinyl and weeding was to time consuming and was taking away from creating and different ideas. I got on Instagram live one day and tapped a manufacturer into my live and had a conversation with him and it felt genuine. He provided me with a free sample. And it was amazing. Fast forward me and him are very close friends now and we do a lot of business together.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I had a big payday after I was investing my money in cryptocurrency and I had a spike in the coin that I was invested in. I used that money to start my business. For 2 years I was using money from my own pocket to fund the business not understanding business credit. About 10 months ago I applied for a business credit card and let’s just say I haven’t used my money since.
