Alright, William thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

I started Torrchez Entertainment LLC with my wife Emilly as a “Side” business in 2012, as I was already working in the medical field as an office manager. We increased business two fold going from about 50 weddings and events per year to over 100 per year. By the last quarter of 2019, I decided to take a a risk and take on the business full-time as we were booked for over 150 weddings and events. I jumped right in by August 2019; but then 6 months later COVID hit and we drastically decreased business. As the demand for virtual and hybrid events increased, I saw the opportunity to take an additional risk and rebrand. (dba: Hercules Entertainment) We pivoted to providing live streaming services, expanding our business to now cater to more corporate AV needs. Now we are completing 250-280 weddings and events per year. The risk taken was well worth the outcome.

William , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is William Sanchez, owner, CEO, DJ/Bilingual MC for Torrchez Entertainment LLC dba Hercules Entertainment.
I have been a DJ intermittently for about 10 years, from NY to FL prior to starting the business.. A divorce landed me at the DC area, where I was seeking a continued career as a Medical Office Manager. (I was steering myself not to continue to DJ after my divorce). About 2-3 months in, I joined a Salsa Social Group, and in one of their social dance events, the organizer was seeking a DJ for an event. My baby sister, who at the time was with me, mentioned I was a DJ. The organizer and I conversed and I went ahead and took the gig, looking at it as a way to make some extra side money. Once I did that gig, another DJ offered me the opportunity to play at a popular local latin club. I was introduced to the owner who agreed to test me out. That same night, he asked if I was available every Saturday night. That was 2008. I took the gig, and since then have been DJing for various socials, clubs, and private events. In 2011 I met my now wife, Emilly, who is a DJ and Zumba Instructor. By 2012, we ‘put our powers together’ and created Torrchez Entertainment LLC (Torres + Sanchez, our last name play on words.). We have now been in business for about 14 years, providing DJ/MC Services for all occasions, AV services and management, Photo Booths, Special Effects and Live Streaming.. Our rebranding to doing business as Hercules Entertainment and Our motto: “We perform legendary events” has been the model we follow to truly bring a seamless experience for our clients. We go over every little detail (i.e. Wedding Timeline Agenda) to make sure we are hosting every event with as much attention to detail as possible. 80% of our client’s events are Multi-Cultural and we make sure all their guests are inclusive to the celebration or event. We are proud to have had a 5 start review rating across the board, which says alot about our business model.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

The most relevant is when COVID hit. Our business decreased drastically as events were being cancelled and postponed. There was a demand to start hosting virtual and hybrid events. We pivoted to providing live streaming to incorporate our current services, which we still provide today. This has set us apart as we are now able to provide this services to practically all events as needed. The biggest factor for live streaming as been including family and friends to join in on a special event, making them feel they are part of the celebration from anywhere around the world.

If you have multiple revenue streams in your business, would you mind opening up about what those streams are and how they fit together?

We took the “Entertainment” umbrella and expanded to include as many aspects of the Entertainment world as possible. In addition to DJ/MC services & Corporate AV Services, we also provide Lighting, Special Effects (Dry Ice/Dancing On A Cloud; Cold parks), Photo Booths, booking Live Entertainment (Mariachi’s, Carnival Dancers, Live Instrumentation, etc.), and Live Streaming.
