We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful William Perry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with William below.
William, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
The more I age, the more my appreciation for parents grows – especially for mine. At the ripe age of 28, I am now more aware of hardships I might have been oblivious to and overlooked as a child.
As an adolescence, my imagination was never belittled or mocked; it was always encouraged.
I was always shown hard work pays off when you are consistent and patient. Your name is your identity and you are judged based off the mere credibility your name carries. Moreover, make sure to never have your name associated with mediocre work or shady people. My father imprinted these principles in my brain at an early age and I held on to them well into my adulthood. I’ve gone on to build a brand behind upholding these morals. As a senior in high school, I didn’t even know what I wanted to do after school. I genuinely felt I was destined for music in some capacity; and both parents always supported me chasing my dreams.
I will never be able to truly thank them for believing in me during the times I didn’t have confidence.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a trifecta of a recording artist, music producer and audio engineer. As you may expect, I offer a wide variety of services for my clients – and I am certified!
I graduated from Living Arts College (Raleigh, NC) for Audio Design and earned my Pro Tools Certification during my time there. Since graduating, I have earned multiple Waves certifications for Mixing, Vocal Mixing, and Audio Mastering.
My main services focus on providing high quality instrumentals, sound kits and mixing/mastering services.
In addition to these main interests, I also offer SoundCloud promo campaigns, producer tags/DJ drops, one-on-one marketing consultations, and more!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Back in 2018 when I was still in college, I was posting beats but I didn’t have a consistent upload schedule. I wasn’t nearly as efficient as I am now. At the time, I was struggling to gain followers online and my plays weren’t making any noticeable strides. I remember everybody was saying SoundCloud was “dead”, but my homie Trippy Low was like an anomaly. Low always had an ear for trendy sounds and was making hyperpop/rage music before it became the current trend it is today. That would probably explain why he had thousands of fans streaming his music worldwide.
This was encouraging to me and eventually I asked for his opinion in regards to my own SoundCloud promotion and music marketing – and this was when I was initially introduced to RepostExchange.
RepostExchange is essentially an integration for SoundCloud that connects you with other authentic SoundCloud creators.
Similar to Splice, this platform operates based off a credit system. On RepostExchange however, credit prices are assigned to users accordingly based on their follower count. Every 100 followers a user possesses equates to 1 credit being charged to send that particular person a repost request. And my favorite part about this gem is; it is absolutely free to use!
From that point on, I began uploading beats every Tuesday and Thursday.
I was consistent with my uploads and would network on RepostExchange to drive engagement and possibly encourage beat sales. This cycle repeated for nearly 3 years straight. During that span, my SoundCloud grew from hundreds of followers to currently holding 4.2K. In 2021, my first social media verification was earned via SoundCloud!
I still post beats consistently, and I still use RepostExchange on a daily basis.
If you have a SoundCloud account and would like to give RepostExchange a try,

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My ultimate goal is to establish my own brand as a music collective. I watched Internet Money and 808 Mafia take over the industry and I took notes on everything I witnessed.
Now I’m intending to sign artists/song writers, producers/sample makers, engineers/sound designers, and photo/videographers. When I am in a better position to provide major opportunities more frequently, I will already have my business in order for the first play.
I gave myself a 3 year timeline to complete all the legal paperwork and build my brand identity in the process.
In year one, I relocated from NC to TX and immediately began investing in my music business startup.
Currently I am awaiting trademark approvals. Upon securing those, I am going after my LLC next.
Following my rebrand in 2020, I have done roughly 150 beat collaborations with talented musicians varying from all around the globe! I’m trusting the process and establishing relationships that can be built over time. I honestly feel very confident about what we’re building. It feels a bit more reassuring being that I’m taking my time and constantly learning as I go to ensure no details get overlooked.
Soon I will get a few of my frequent collaborators on the same accord – and you will witness the next dream team! I don’t want to say too much right now though; that might ruin the surprise.
