We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful William Mshindi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with William below.
William, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.
Yes, we serve low-income families and underserved communities—parents who dream of giving their kids opportunities but face financial barriers every day.
Here’s why it matters:
Many talented kids in our neighborhoods miss out on sports, arts, and skill-building activities because their families can’t afford premium programs. Take Esther, a hardworking salonist and single mother of five. Her kids are gifted skaters and dancers, but when her eldest missed a major skating competition because she couldn’t cover the fees, Esther felt heartbroken. “It’s not their fault they were born into struggle,” she told us. Her story isn’t unique—1 in 3 families in our community skips enrichment activities due to cost.
How we serve them:
We created an affordable training platform run by professional coaches and community mentors. For Esther’s kids, that meant access to top-tier skating and dance workshops at prices that fit her budget. Last year, her daughter placed second in a regional competition—a milestone they once thought impossible. Today, over 100 kids train with us in schools, competitions, and community spaces, proving talent shouldn’t be locked behind paywalls.
Our mission? Turn ‘I can’t afford it’ into ‘I’m ready to shine.’ We unleash creativity!

William, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m William Mshindi, CEO and Founder of Kartika Entertainment Africa and Infinity Dance Ministers (IDM). My story starts where many in Kenya’s creative industry do: with talent, but no support.
How It Began
I grew up with a passion for art—dancing, skating, music—but like so many gifted kids, I hit a wall: no funds to train, no platforms to shine. That frustration became my fuel. I built Kartika to tear down those barriers, so no one else would hear “You’re talented, but…”
What We Do
We’re a creative revolution offering:
1. Entertainment Services: Professional DJs, MCs, dancers, photographers, and videographers for events.
2. School Programs: Affordable coaching in music, dance, ballet, chess, skating, and more.
3. Career Launchpad: We don’t just train; we create jobs. A good number of young professionals earn through Kartika.
Why It Matters
In June, one of our skating students won a skating tournament after training with us. That’s the magic of access: potential + opportunity = unstoppable!
What Sets Us Apart
1. Diversity: Few studios blend gospel dance, chess, and skating under one roof. Art isn’t a box—it’s a universe.
2. Affordability: We slash costs, not quality. Our model lets kids from Kibera to Karen chase dreams equally.
3. Faith & Hustle: IDM isn’t just a dance crew; we’re one of Kenya’s largest gospel dance movements, proving passion and purpose can pay.
What I’m Proudest Of
Jobs created for artists who once struggled like I did.
Leading IDM, where worship meets artistry, inspiring thousands.
Join the Movement
To every artist, parent, or believer: Your talent is valid here. Join Kartika Entertainment Africa today! Train. Book our services. Partner. Let’s turn “I can’t afford it” into “I’m booked for my next gig.”

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
1. Solving a Real Pain Point
We didn’t just enter the market—we fixed its gaps. Kenya’s creative industry often sidelines talent due to cost or connections. By offering affordable, diverse training (from skating to gospel dance) and paid gig opportunities, we became the bridge between raw talent and real careers.
2. Diversity as a Superpower
While others niche down, we embrace contradictions: ballet and chess, gospel dance and event DJs. This versatility makes Kartika unignorable—whether you’re a school, corporate client, or artist seeking growth.
3. Community Over Competition
We hire and train from the communities we serve. When people see IDM dancers (one of Kenya’s largest gospel crews) or Kartika photographers at major events, they recognize their own—and trust follows.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
We treat people like family, not transactions. After a booking, we check in personally—no bots, no scripts. Our artists remember your kid’s name, your event’s vibe. We throw free community showcases so clients see their investment paying off. For churches and brands, we deliver more than promised—throw in extra edits, stay late to perfect the set. Most new work comes from word-of-mouth, because when you actually care, people notice. That’s it. No gimmicks, just respect and results.
