We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful William Gipson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with William below.
William, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I would say that a defining moment in our organization is multi-layered.
I say this because we have many people in our organization.
Each person has been affected in a different way by kindness.
For some it may have been a random act of kindness shown by a stranger.
For others it may have been a show of gratitude shown by someone that was helped.
We feel that kindness causes a ripple effect. In that we mean that one kind act usually leads to other kind acts and the potential for kindness to spend grows exponentially.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Kind Human 4 Human Kind is a 501(c)3 non profit charity based in St Clair county Michigan.
We have been doing charitable works for over a decade but became an official non profit charity in August 2023.
We started when, one year for our daughter Olivia’s birthday, she came to us and said that she did not want anything for her birthday as she felt she had everything she could want.
In lieu of a party, my wife Jamie and I took her and her friends out to do random acts of kindness.
We now perform many acts of kindness to a wide range of people in need in our community.
We believe what sets our organization apart from others is that we believe in meeting people where they are (in their life). We believe that everyone is deserving of kindness with dignity.
We also don’t make people prove their need for our organization to help them.
We take people at their word.
We also deliver items to people in need who cannot come and get them on their own.
We are aware that transportation can be a hurdle to some that may prohibit them from otherwise getting help.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Kind Human 4 Human Kind has built its presence on social media channels by being transparent in its posts.
We are very proud of the fact that we donate 100% of the items that are gifted to our organization.
On our posts we often will thank our donors for gifting our organization with their donations. We call these our gratitude posts.
We often say that we could not do what we do if our generous donors did not do what they do.
We will then usually make a post on our social media channels showing our followers that we had made deliveries, to people in need, of the aforementioned donated items.
These “before” and “after” posts complete a circle, to anyone following us, that illustrates that we receive donations and then subsequently re-home these items.
We often hear from our donors that they like to donate to us because they follow us and get to see where their items ended up.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
We feel that word of mouth is our best source of getting new clients.
We feel that most people, who donate to our organization, want to feel good about making that decision.
We feel like the way that we treat people, both donors and recipients alike, will speak volumes about what our mission is and how much we appreciate what people do for us.
We treat people well and with respect and good news travels fast.
