We were lucky to catch up with William Bell recently and have shared our conversation below.
William, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
In my high school years i always gravitated towards my artistic passions. No plans for college were realistic for me. I was always focused on dancing or using a camera. They were my obsessions and I’d like to think I was fairly good at them. After graduating figuring out how to pursue my creative side full time became my only focus.
William, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My pursuit for photography and videography started with dance. I’ve been dancing my whole life and at some point I was old enough to make YouTube videos and share my passion for dance with the world. Eventually I wanted my videos to be more intentional. I’ve been spending years learning and studying the craft of video making. Along with the videos I would need cool photos to promote my video content. People in my dance community started to notice my work and reached out to work with me. With my background in dance I believe I had a certain eye for movement and my clients understood that. In the last few years I’ve become very interested in using my artistic skills and approach brands to highlight artist in business. I am most proud of the work I’ve done locally with smoothie king that featured dancers and those projects lead to being featured on their corporate social media accounts as well. I would want my potential clients and audience to know that I want to use my artistic ability in business.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
April 2nd, 2019 90% percent of my equipment was stolen out of my car. I remember the exact moment I realized my belongings were gone. I didn’t feel anger or sadness, my only thoughts were focused on how can I get back to creating again. And thats when I knew id be in this craft for a long time. When things are not looking so good thats when you find out if you’ll stick this thing out and that experience showed me more of who I am as a creator.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is knowing that the possibilities are endless. There will always be room for growth and there will be always be lessons to learn rather thats in the craft or business aspect. With time everything changes and adaptation is necessary, which for me means I will never get bored.
